why should it really effect you, if you don't like the threads don't click on them. the same applies to even video game disccusions that rile you up. if you're a Sony or Nintendo fanboy and someone opens a thread saying "Sony/Nintendo are going to fail for THIS reason!" then don't click on it if you tend to get stressed out or bothered by that sort of debate

same applies to politics and religion.

its just too easy NOT to get involved and click for you to be this dramatic about it. its like the people who always end up in the gossip and drama who just keeping saying "omg ya'll are crazy for starting shit all the time". You're putting yourself IN the drama by clicking on the stuff and then bitching about the stuff

As I've said before this would apply had we not seen flaming-like phrases in the titles as well. The Holocaust is a hoax? Belief in a God is illogical? Does it do VGChartz any good if these appear on the hot page? It does nothing make this place seem like the irrelevant version of IGN.

It's Badgenomes fault when he was here ,the political threads where entertaining and I'm sure he would have made the Religious ones just as good.

We need to bring the bastard back.

What better way to do it than offering him Godhood, and to tempt him away from seeing the Devils job as being more fun,we could sweeten the pot by not only making him God of not just one religion, but all religions he would then be his own pantheon.

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

Despite VGChartz being a opean forum where you can discuss everything, it is strange when a lot of people discuss those things instead of gaming or sales.

Something else I wanted to add that I didn't mention the other day is that things are bad enough in a gaming forum when people argue about video games. If simple entertainment is enough to get people riled up, then subject matter with real life-and-death consequences involved is going to end extremely poorly, with many users likely growing to hate each other. People getting in verbal fights over whether PlayStation or Xbox or Nintendo is better, or whether Marvel or DC is better, or whether Star Wars or Star Trek is better is bad enough, but when fundamental aspects of a person's worldview are involved, you have a powder keg ready to go off, and no shortage of lit matches.

Civility would be nice, but one thing I've learned as I've gotten older is that politics and religion are subjects that don't lend themselves to civil discussion. There's a reason that the phrase "Never discuss politics or religion in polite company" exists. Related to that, I've learned that people on all sides of a given topic are in many ways not that dissimilar. They have a lot more in common than they'd care to admit when it comes to how they behave, and predictably enough every side will insist "only the other side does this." More often that not, people sound more like juveniles arguing on a playground when it comes to these subjects. Many on both sides would love to see opinions they don't agree with be silenced. They think their side is always right and never wrong, and that anyone who disagrees with them is not just wrong, but stupid, insane, corrupt, or flat-out evil.

Conservatives and liberals often use similar rhetorical tactics, most notably resorting to calling each other "Nazis" (conservatives also throw around "socialist," "communist," and "Marxist" around a lot). Religious fundamentalists and militant atheists are the flip sides of the same coin of hate and intolerance, with both regarding anyone who doesn't share their beliefs as a dangerous, deluded fool, and sharing this vague, authoritarian-tinged undercurrent that "Everyone ought to believe the exact same way I do." Needless to say, this hyper-partisan atmosphere is toxic and corrosive to discourse.

At the end of the day, this is supposed to be a community focused on video games. It's hard enough to keep a close-knit community when people engage in flame wars over an electronic box. Adding politics and religion into the mix is just asking for trouble.

Vgchartz has a good community of moderators. But it will be hard for them to keep track of those random people starting wars on threads.

I think most people who want to stop religion or politics thread saying they are not interested.

However other people are...

No one cares they are 1000 FF threads lol

I think you are making a big deal of something that doesn't need to be.

People come to forums to talk. I think that if these threads don't interest you, you are not forced to click on them. You don't have to click on every new thread you see. ^^

Let people talk about what they want to talk. It is not right to dictate what people can and cannot talk about. That's not in accordance with freedom of speech. It's a big and relevant topic in today's sociery, so it's normal that it sparks interest.
Theres way more threads dedicated to gaming than religion. The proportion is insane actually. Just, don't go in there if you don't want to read it.

I don't think anyone here has a problem with people discussing religion. What I'm seeing here is that people have a problem with the derogatory threads that essentially start and end with the OP, and also with the insults. It's not right to call someone stupid or ignorant for preferring a vegan lifestyle over an omnivores diet, so I don't see how we can accept threads that call people with religious beliefs stupid or ignorant.

Did you honestly just compare religious belief with vegan lifestyle? I see why you cannot see a distinction between criticizing a naive and illogical philosophical position and an insult.

OP seems overtly salty at his poor debate skills.

Again with the personal insults.

I wouldn't care is someone made a thread which supported all my beliefs. If they can't do it in a way that doesn't come off as flaming or trolling, then I don't like the thread.

Do you seriously think I made this just out of saltiness? I barely participated in the threads I listed due to the negativity they throw out to others.

We need to do our part and just ignore posts like this. There is nothing to be had from acknowledging this kind of behavior.  Just report and move on.

Correct, you devalued all of the threads by whining about how much you dislike them. Thanks for stopping by champ.

No judgement implied I was just making a point.  Also religious people are far more judgemetal then non religious people.
