Why would someone take so much time to write so many lines that nobody reads anyway?

they had faith that people would read it all.

Don't make fun of your brother.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I understand that many people want to be the next Durkheim/Freud/Weber/Marx/Dawkins etc, but they didn't gain distinction by posting borderline arguments onto a video game sales forum lol. I'm sure your local University has a Philosophy club that you can join and debate in, providing you take a few courses. It sounds like you would be interested in:

-Sociology of Religion

-Philosophy

-Religious Studies

-Psychology

And the list goes on. If you are interested in the topic and have something to say, I recommend finding an audience who wants to hear what you have to say. There is nothing wrong with having your view - in fact a lot of people do - but a glaring difference between many atheists (*edit* AND THEISTS) is knowing when and where to air PUSH your beliefs.

Thanks, that is all.

Can we stop getting these fucking threads?

I'd rather have the crappy NX threads than these threads that do nothing but further lengthen an argument that won't be answered from one person or persons who supposedly have the key to a controversial subject that has been debated for centuries.

Edit: yes, we can discuss many things on vgchartz, but does it have to be religion, the subject that toxifies the majority of social media platforms? If you want to shove your belief of a religion (or lack of one) go do it somewhere else. People are sick of those who feel the need to constantly talk about God and why you should or shouldn't believe in him. I'm VGChartz to avoid this shit, not be closer to it. Go on Google plus or something if you want to talk about this. They have a lot of atheism communities

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

It's actually amazing to me that even in 2016, people still believe in this childish fantasy. Were not even talking kids either, adults, full grown adults still actually believe in this nonsense.

The funny thing is that a lot of these people would give me shit if I said I believed in Santa Clause even though it's the exact same thing!

maybe your right. maybe your wrong.

now what?

It is near the end of the end....

It is.

Education and ridicule will eventually take care of it though. It's not someting you can talk sense into someone because they are already forgoing it to believe.
The problem is when some of those people manage to get into the legislative power or when they organise extremist groups. Those i think are quite serious offenses that may need dealing with more firmly.

Be careful. I got a warning for pretty much posting exactly this in another thread.

What reasons have we to suspect any gods exist? I will tell you: none. There exists no empirical evidence for such an entity. There exists no sound arguments for such an entity either which explains why virtually all philosophers are non-believers.

Ahem. There's no comprehensive explanation for the existence of the universe. Only religion claims to explain it. It's no evidence but it definitely explain a lot about why people tend to be religious: it's the only explanation we have so far. I'm not saying it's the correct explanation, but you don't really have to look very far to see why people are inclined to be religious. If you think about what we know, first everything was condensed into a very tiny point, and suddenly there was a humongous universe. For all we know, everything was just waiting there forever waiting to explode into a huge universe spontaneously.

And yes, I believe that's the most plausible theory there is right now. I don't think it's a good one, but until there's a better one, this will have to do. But it sounds insane and leaves an interesting question open: where did the original point of matter come from? Don't be so surprised people have a hard time thinking religiously. There's probably other reasons as well for faith, but I think this is the one that's related to reason the most.

Not that I'm arguing against, just some curious observations I've made on this debate. You say we learn what is known, but what we learn half the time are theories and inferences to the best explanations which tend to change (and even tossed out!) upon actual discovery. Science backtracks when it needs to. What can be said then? And the scientific method? Inconsistency isn't tolerated in logic. And let's use the same basis, is this your proof that God doesn't exist?

Just a perspective.

And this post will not convince any believers to change their mind, just like how their posts will not sway non believers.

Funny thing is though, you are even more illogical than the religious posters. It is their belief that they are to spread the word of god, they have a purpose. Seeing how you believe nothing on the matter, it is amusing that you try to turn it into something.

In short, they feel they are doing their job by posting their beliefs. This thread however is nothing but bait for arguments and serves no real purpose. GG
