Forums - Sales Discussion - The party is almost over for Xbox.

With 3 months of Xbox victory over PS4 on the NPDs, Microsoft must be pleased. However, if you look at Amazon, PS4 Pro is doing very well. It is the number one selling console. It is still weeks from release. November looks like it will be an NPD slaughter for Xbox One. PS4 Pro should be a mega hit.

I forgot. If you count the PSVR/PS4 combo, it is actually beating PS4 Pro.

That's pretty obvious. PS4 Pro brings amazing value at 400$ with (most of the time) 2 times resolution over PS4 and 3 times resolution over Xbox One S.

I really wanna see FF XV gameplay captured directly from PS4 Pro closer to release. Game possibly running in 1440p or 1527p with checkerboard rendering to 4K.

It should look fantastic.

Microsoft won NPD 3 months in a row, well done and much deserved. However the PS4 is still killing it 2:1 worldwide but the point is that competition is great for us gamers. I do feel Sony have been a bit too comfortable in the last 12 months and have become slightly less consumer friendly, where Microsoft have been relaxing their policies. We just have to look at the inclusion of a UHD blu ray drive in the Xbox One S and their allowance of FULL MODS to Fallout 4 and Skyrim Remastered. Where if you go back 3 years ago they had a parity clause in place for indie games coming out for both PS4/Xbox One, always online and no second hand games policy. I feel it is now Sony's time to show consumers so good will. Allow external hard drive support, the ability to play audio CDs and relax their mod policy and I will be happy. Or they could allow UHD blu ray support in the Pro :P

It sounds like they're just offering different things for consumers rather than one being more consumer friendly than another.  As a consumer you have choices.

As a consumer, both are great choices. The last few days, I can't even decide which one I want to play. If I turn on my PS4, I'm missing out. If I turn on my Xbox, I'm missing out.

It's the best kind of dilemma.

The biggest problem for PS4 Pro is the average consumer won't benefit much from it right now. You guys every try explaining resolution to the average person? They don't give a fuck. We live in world where millions are still playing 360 and PS3 games.

So I believe many people will still opt for PS4 Slim and X1 S because they're $100 cheaper and have free games.

I'm sure many will buy a PS4 Pro as well, it will likely be the top selling SKU from now on, but its not going to the box everybody is going to buy.

Due to recent exclusives, you can guess which console I'm currently playing a lot of.

But Sony failing to meet holiday launches makes it great for post holiday games I have more time for.

I also think the Xbox one s actually offers more of an upgrade reason than the ps4 slim for regular owners of either.

There is not much reason for a ps4 owner to upgrade to a slim.  It's not like it was large to begin with.

The reasons for owning both are increasing as time clicks on.

If someone doesn't want both then each company has made differentiating moves that offer distinctions beyond just a few games now.
