Forums - Movies & TV - Anime-Masterpieces: The Boy and the Beast + Wolf Children

Yes, yes they are.

Funny how all the films mentioned in this thread are either from Makoto Shinkai ("5 Centimeters Per Second", "Children Who Chase Lost Voices", "Your Name"), Yasuhiro Yoshiura ("Time of Eve", "Patema Inverted"), or Mamoru Hosoda ("Summer Wars", "Wolf Children", "The Boy and the Beast ").

Rightfully so, I think, those three are good.

What's so great about them. Modern anime sucks so hard. Either forced "feels" or purely infantile.

Long gone are the days of Roujin Z and GITS.

You sound a lot like people who say music nowadays sucks when they only hear about the mainstream stuff.

Well, it's no Kill La Kill but it might actually be pretty decent.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It is just impossible to watch them all. Even on Netflix there like 40 shows right now, some with 3 or 4 seasons of animes. I just do not have the time, but there is a endless suply of decent japanese animation. I never had much patience for it, except, of course, for Death Note and Robotech, but I recently found out more sober animes and fell in love with the genre, specially Sword Art Online
I have being a Junji Ito fan for a long time, I just love his brand of horror. I am still looking for a anime with the same feeling. If anyone find out, let me know.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Welp, just watched Wolf Children yesterday. It was pretty good, but I still liked The Boy and the Beast more.

I consider the beast and the boy his weakest work so far. Wolf Children is by far his strongest.

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

I find Wolf Children to be highly subversive.

weakest or strongest.. well.. both movies are awesome :) its like "Metal Gear Solid" and "Metal Gear Solid 2" + "MGS3". MGS1 was a legend in the gaming-historie, MGS2 was good. MGS3 like MGS1. So MGS2 was the weakest, but a great game ^^ "weakest" sounds so bad *-* that hurts ^^

Everything Hosoda did these past years have been amazing. I can't believe he started out with the first Digimon Movie lol.
Consider checking out Makoto Shinkai too. Kimi no na wa just came out and looks incredible.
