Wow, that's impressive for Forza Horizon 3. Good stuff, reviews suggest it deserves it. I'll snag the digital copy at its first sale, if not sooner. I'd add that not only is digital distribution getting bigger for console games every year, but that people who normally still buy games on disc might ahve bought it digitally this time to get the complementary Windows copy. More incentive to go digital for first-party Microsoft games than for other console titles. |
It is both impressive and not impressive at the same time.
Sure it's impressive to be the second best selling game in the entire genre just behind the absoulut powerhouse Mario Kart.
But the racing game genre is very small today in the US. So a dedicated hardcore fanbase, can kind of easily achive that.
I'm looking forward to see what GT Sport is able to do.
Of couse the number will depend on the weeks of tracking, but less than 500k units and less than Mario Kart 8 is a given at this point.

Scorpio is not a next-gen system. It is obviously an upgraded XBO designed to take advantage of 4K, HDR, and VR, just as the PS4 Pro is to the PS4. And, VR games excepted (as VR apparently can't run on weaker XBO models), the Scorpio won't have any exclusives, as stated quite plainly by both Aaron Greenberg and Phil Spencer. In any case, the Scorpio is too far out to be cannibalizing any XBO sales right now. It doesn't even have a firm release date or a price point yet. This gives the XBO S plenty of time to carry the XBO all on its lonesome. And while I think these upgraded versions of both the PS4 and XBO will do good at launch, I do not think they'll be the primary SKUs going forward as there's no reason to have them unless you're planning on getting an 4K TV and/or investing in VR. But the reasons for the existence of these upgraded models is also the biggest obstacle to their success. VR is expensive, and 4K penetration is still pretty low. Even as the Pro and Scorpio get cheaper, there is not much reason to upgrade to either if you're not interested in VR and are sticking with regular 1080p HDTVs. The XBO & PS4 "families" will both see their total sales decline substantially by time VR gets cheap enough for mass adoption, and long before 4K TV reaches a majority of households (4K penetration is estimated to hit only about a third of U.S. households in 2019). People are expecting too much out of the Pro and Scorpio, as if they'll have the same effect on sales as true next-gen console will. At best, they'll do to sales what the DSi and New 3DS did to sales of their respective platforms. |
Would be silly for Microsoft to announce "Beyond generations" and then, 1 year after, announce Scorpio as a next gen Xbox.
knows anyone when we see the next vgchartz hw update?
And i remember when people were saying the XB1S wouldnt sell due to Scorpio. Seems to be the PS4S fell in that boat with the Pro.

Pro runs all supported games at native 2k to 1800p......SUPPORTED GAMES. NOT ALL GAMES. Clearly you have issues with facts. |
Yes but you stated that it runs some games at 720p which it does not, even the PS4 doesn't do that. All games must run at least at 1080p on PS4 Pro.
All games released after PS4 Pro on it will run at 2k and higher resolutions and that is a lot of games.

Destiny is a big time seller man, it charts high whenever there is a new version of it released. Last year it sold 540k with The Taken King's retail version and logic dictates that it probably did better digitally due to there already being like 4 million owners in the US (at the time) of the vanilla Destiny who obviously don't want to buy a retail expansion of the same game that they already own. I'm referring to the Destiny collection charting at #5
Oh my God. This gen sucks compared to last gen. 4 sports games followed up by two collections and a 3byears old game? I'mean not against those game. In fact I bought NBA, Fifa and Bioshock and will buy Madden and NHL if I had time to play them. But it shows we don't have big games this gen. Maybe we we were spoiled last gen we got used to a stream of good games almost every month.

Nintendo's 3DS was up 40% year over year, according to a statement from Nintendo. Its 2DS was a major contributor to those numbers, with sales up 110% over September of last year. According to NPD this was the fourth consecutive month in which 3DS sales increased over the same period last year.
123k last year, so 172k this year! 35k weekly sales on average ( rounded number ) !
( September is a five weeks month )
