I think I'm in the minority here saying this, but I enjoyed Resistance 2 the most. The campaign was a lot more fun and had some epic boss fights and set pieces. The co-op experience was really good too, like a trimmed down version of a strike / raid on destiny.

Killzone to me is still one of the best games for MP IMO. The ability to change the way you play with turrets, drones, spawn points etc creates some of the best fire fights.

I'm playing through chapter 7 of Resistance 2 right now! I'm loving it. Very challenging, cool weapons, spectacular boss fights.

At the risk of being redundant:

Call of Duty 4 is still the best MMFPS I've played. Definitely a must if you haven't played it yet, and you have good timing with the remaster coming out. If you angrily tweet at Activision they probably still won't consider a standalone release. But if you make enough fake accounts they'll implement a new purchase model through which you'll have to buy bags of Doritos and get unique codes to unlock singular missions. Anyhow moving on.....

Portal 2 is a brilliant - and humorous - puzzler/platformer.

Bioshock is a must with its' immersive atmosphere and story, but you've likely heard that before. I worship this game like a preteen at the Twilight premiere.

Destiny is fun - if you ignore most of its year 1 faults and have a crew to play with. Pretty much a no-no for solo. Raiding and other cooperative/competitive areas are where this game shines, but as for the story; James Patterson could have written it without falling behind on his 18 novels a year quota.

Hopefully I helped a little?

How is CoD 4 an MMFPS though? Does it support hundreds of players on a map? I thought it was 32. And is Portal a shooter?

I also think Bioshock's story doesn't hold if the game's story segments weren't on rails.

Thanks, ReimTime! BioShock and Modern Warfare will definitely make the list. I'm not sure if Portal 2 qualifies but it sure is an amazing game :)

Playing Resistance 2 now. So good!

I might say that Resistance > Killzone when it comes to PS3 shooters. Although I love the bots in Killzone. Every shooter should have bots. That should be a law :P

I like the shooting mechanics, graphics, level design of Killzone more and it definitely has a lot better AI but still Resistance has got a charm, atmosphere and lore that I just don't find in any other series. I don't know why it had to end at 3, would love to have a new one on PS4 or even a remaster of the console trilogy and Retribution :)

1.Mechwarrior 2
2.System Shock 2
3.Quake III
4.Doom 2

You shoud give Global Offensive a try, it can be pretty fun!

My favourites (not necessarily best):

Half-Life 1
Far Cry 1
Battlefield 1942 (with Forgotten Hope mod)
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
Vietcong
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
No One Lives Forever
Dark Forces II

Excluded FPS-RPGs from the list.

Series? I will go with Far Cry cause it is always fun and cool, loved Far Cry 2,3 and 4. If I can choose just one game, Killzone 2 was always my favorite, cause it feels like a real war game somehow, can´t explain, it just has that feeling of danger and desolation in it. The others are all over the border, some are decent, some are mediocre.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.
