Shares in Samsung fell further on Wednesday after the smartphone maker said it would scrap production of its flagship Note 7 model.

Shares fell 3% at the open, adding to Tuesday's 8% fall.

The company has seen more than $20bn wiped off its market value in two days.

The Note 7 was recalled over exploding batteries in September but as new phones showed the same problems, the South Korean firm has now scrapped the device entirely.

The drop in shares marks a one-month low for Samsung as concerns grew that the current crisis will go beyond the costs of the recall and affect the brand's overall reputation.

Makes sense. Great phone with one huge flaw, its essh worthy battery. I doubt we will be seeing the Note series ever again after this generation. RIP Note 2011-2016

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

This is why Apple stays on top. It seems as though no Android company can climb up without slipping on Diddy Kong's banana peel and falling to their death.

I get doing bad in sales. I also understand faulty batteries. But screwing up twice in a row over the same thing? Come on. Everyone laughed at LG for disappointing G5 sales, but at least they didn't lose $20bn in the span of 48 hours.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

I wish this would mean other Android brands like HTC, Sony, Google could snatch some marketshare from Samsung and remain competitive.
What will probably happen is Apple will capitalize on this opportunity.

Was hoping I'd get a sweetheart deal on one after the first failed batch, but seeing how it's still an issue I guess I'll look elswhere. =/

Are those Diddy Kong bananas placed there by Nintendo as part of their partnership with Apple?

It reminds me of that Chinese kids quote "it is not enough that I succeed,  others must fail" xD

Meanwhile at Apple ...

if you want a premium phablet, I recommend the V20. Great hardware and great software without the G5's failed modern concept

edit: i recommend the note 5 too. Yes, it's 1 year old, but still extremely fast. I've seen it for as low as 500

Samsung screwed S5 before and it took them long enough to get the S moving again, I wonder what will it take for them to rebuild the Note name
Other Android providers don't have good marketing like Samsung, HTC has fallen behind, LG isn't doing good either, I am not into Samsung but the Android is certainty something great, I hope one of those Android Phones stays a float to keep the challenge

The hardware design guy that went "yep this is fine, this should work, and this battery is okay".
Probably got fired.
