Not sure if Sony's MO is give sequels to medicore games in spite of respectable sales, atleast not immediately.

Had it reviewed well with same sales, a sequel would be more likely.

If Recore continues I imagine it will be a smaller scale project. I get the impression it will achieve some cult status.

I just hope it sells well enough overtime to get a sequel. I don't wanna see this IP be left behind when there is so much potential there for it to become Microsoft's next big hit if done correctly.

I think this kind of game get most of there sales digitally.

Splatton, Watch Dogs, Destiny, Bravely Default, Overwatch, Titanfall have all done well.  There are successful and unsuccessful new IPs every gen.

Sony marketed that game very well and suckered a lot of people into buying it based on hype alone and graphics in some cases. I remember when early copies were being played, people were genuinely shocked by how linear and extremely short it was being reported as, to the point where people playing the game early were attacked and called liars.

I highly doubt Sony can pull that off twice. People will know better this time.

Which is HILARIOUS and shows how little the zealots actually paid attention to what the developers were actually *saying*.  Cause they talked about how they wanted it short and how they were going with 30fps because it feels better all under the big buzzword of the time "cinematic" (incidentally, notice how sharply the use of that fell after Assassin's Creed Unity and The Order, both games defending technical limitations, length, or dumb design decisions under the vague "it's more cinematic" bs, were put the wringer by consumer and reviewer alike).  This is a common thing I see these days, self-perpetuated hype culture that is sometimes more toxic and misleading than the hype culture the industry actually tries to stir up.

Even though the numbers are off, I'm sure the sales are still dismal. Really wish MS would stop calling every game of theirs a "success" when they know it's not. Because saying that is going to start having an opposite connotation..

While I agree, I think some were hoping of something similar to previous gen. We had new IPs like Uncharted, Mass Effect, Wii series, Professor Layton, Bioshock, Skate, Xenoblade, Portal, Gears of War, The Last of Us, Nintendogs, Assassin's Creed, Batman Arkham, etc.
