Things aren't currently great, and there are a number of issues with wealth inequality, but these can't really be blamed on any one person (and they can't exactly be fixed easily either). They are the result of decades of economic policy and also partially the result of a lot of obstructionists in modern politics which makes change exceedingly slow.
That said, reality isn't always what Trump and Bernie tapped into. In the primaries, the average Trump supporter made $72,000per year, so he isn't really tapping into their economic hardships. He has largely been tapping into fear which is often irrational.
