I don't recall talking about Naruto/DBZ with you

Oh really?

I wasn't referring to Dragonball Z. I have no interest in it now, but I can appreciate how much of a formative series it was for me at the time. I certainly can't say the same for the other.

Whoops, i forgot about that thread l0l.

A shame it went from discussing the music to the actual shows(which I wanted to avoid).

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

True...who would have expected a thread called "For those who dislike Naruto" to bring out people that dislike Naruto. :P

Kidding...anyways, I didn't mean to veer this thread in that direction. I couldn't care less if someone has a different opinion than me, and my first post here didn't read that way. I edited it so people that like Naruto won't feel shunned by my negativity.

Here we go

Current: Shokunogeki no souma, love the foodgasms, great story and characters

All time: Neon génesis evangelion or Full metal alchemist brotherhood, cant decide

As a kid: Pokemon

Current: One piece.

Love the animation and characters and chemistry between the cast.

All time. It's between DBZ, Neon Genesis Evangelion and FMA.

As a kid: Ronin warriors aka samurai troopers.

My current favorite would probably be Chihayafuru.  It's about a girl named Chihaya who loves the competitive game of Karuta and holds it very dear as a bond between her and two childhood friends.  The main character is interesting and unique, there is a good deal of character development among the cast, and the tournament sequences are tense and immersive.  It was recently made into live action movies in Japan.

It's tough but my all-time favoritie would probably be Welcome to the NHK.  It's simply brilliant and the closest visual media I've seen to Catch-22.  One day a typical college student has a nervous breakdown.  He becomes paranoid and shuts himself in his apartment.  The stress and isolation lead to delusions that his life is spiraling out of control because of a conspiracy by a television station.  Meanwhile, a mysterious neighborhood girl decides to "save" him.  Turns out that she is just as mixed up and muddled as he is, however.

The series rides waves of hope and dispair, while the characters deal with addictions, depression, social disorders, and even suicide.  Even more remarkable is that it can be flat-out hilarious one second and heart-breaking the next.

Childhood favorite?  Maybe Ranma 1/2.  It was fun and inventive.

Around the Network

1 - Current favorite Anime: Naruto since I'm not watching anything new

2 - Favorite Anime of all time: Rurouni Kenshin. Loved the story, characters, animation and music. I like everything about it except the last filler episodes, but the OVAs are some of the best material I've ever seen in general

3 - Favorite Anime as a child: Dragon Ball Z, no need to explain. It was awesome and it was maybe the first anime I watched and loved. Addicting fights

For both the first and second points

Natsume Yuujinchou

Reason, I'll just copy and paste what I wrote in the anime thread.

Natsume Yuujinchou: Emotional, genuine, heartfelt are three words that i would use to perfectly some up Nastume's Book of Friends. The main plot of the anime involves Natsume returning the names of the yokai his grandmother stored in the book of friends that he inherited after her passing, much to the annoyance of his friend and "bodyguard" the powerfull and gluttonous yokai Madara. A rollercoster of emotons from laughter, sorrow, worry, sadness to elation, each one of the 52 episodes (seasons 1-4)  presents a new story, a new yokai looking for they're name back and a new character to fall in love with. From these stories, the sountrack to the characters and the chemistry between them, everything within this anime will invoke some sort of feeling that will leave you wiping away tears or laughing but always wanting more. My favourite anime of all time and one i dont think will be topped anytime soon or if ever.

Point three, I dunno.

Also when im here, go watch AOTY Season 5 that's currently airing.

I found that anime a while back on myanimelist and totally forgot about it.

Current favorite: Berserk. I recently started watching for the first time because of the game thats comming out soon AND ITS GREAT!

All time favorite: NANA. I like romance anime, but not the typical high school comedy stuff. That stuff is fine but im really into more mature and adult romance drama witch is very rare and hard to find and i think Nana is a perfect example. too bad the series was never completed though.

Childhood favorite: Dragon Ball Z.

Grew up with it. it was the first time i had ever watched anime, I didnt even know what anime was back then. It had me in pure awe i had never seen anything like it before. I mean before DBZ i was watching stuff like Doug, Rugrats, Simpsons, Hey Arnold so DBZ was a huge WTF moment.

1.(Current) Airing now? The Anime season is like 1 episode in. I guess either My Wife is the Student Council President or Yuri on Ice.

the first is funny, the latter is a themed anime and those are usually good as long as they aren't generic sports ones because they usually have great character development.

2.Either Neon Genesis Evangelion or Your Lie in April.

EVA

Eva's choreography was really nice for its time and I love how the theme blended religious and occult elements. Loved the Character development and things of that nature as well and how every character was broken in one way or another. The Narrative was nice and well thought out, 3Deep4U. some people that call it "Pretentious".

Your Lie In April
Your Lie in April falls into a hybrid of themed anime (music in its case) and the best genre in anime, Slice of life. Great story and character development. It's really asthetically pleasing, I love the colors and character models. It's like a better version of Anohana with a clear theme.

3.I liked Eva and GitS as a kid, but didn't understand completely (especially the 1st scene in End of EVA, *yikes*) so probably Spirited Away overall. Great film.
