What's the best video game set in World War II in your opinion, and why?

Ooh, good question. I'd probably go with Medal of Honor just eclipsing Call of Duty 2. I'd also like to give a shout out to Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory just nailed it for me with its great objective-driven gameplay. As for single-player experiences, the first Call of Duty was pretty awesome. I didn't like the other World War 2 CoD games as much (I've played 2 and WaW).

Either the one you said, or world at war. I think in terms of online enemy territory just was so amazing. Pity no online game captures that charm of actually being objective based.

World at War was not that bad.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

World at War has my vote, I liked its darker, grimmer take on World War 2, and its focus on the less well trodden Pacific theatre. More than just about any other game I've played, it really drove home the horrors of war, feeling more like a gruesome struggle for survival than a glorious adventure.

I also have a soft spot for Medal of Honor Heroes 2, for its brilliant motion controls.

Axis and Allies original board game (not the ones split into different theaters)...

Okay for real I'm going to go with Civ 3 user based WW2 mods.

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 left a lasting impression on me that no other military game has managed to recapture so far.

Always loved Medal of Honor frontline on ps2. At the time, it felt like I was playing a scene right out of saving private Ryan.
