This is going to ruffle some feathers...

Between Kinect and PSVR, which will have the better longevity?  As we know:

Kinect = Motion sensor without the conventional controller.

PSVR = Virtual Reality headset that replaces a conventional television.

Yes, they are different techs with different purposes.  But which to you predict will find more success in regards to longevity in the context of gaming console entertainment?  From my standpoint, Kinect is pretty much dead.  Introduced during the Xbox 360 era and arguable forced in the Xbox One era.  There is hardly any support for it now.  Do you think PSVR is a fly-by-night, or will it actually survive into the next generation of console gaming?  And will it do so due to consumer demand, or will it be forced on the consumer by Sony?  Will PSVR survive longer than Kinect?

If VR becomes a thing, it might live on longer, but odds are it won't. Kinect did live for nearly 6 years...

It depends on how long it takes for VR to become mainstream enough to where most people can afford to get it. Right now for PSVR that's already going to cost around $800-900 just to use it. (PS4/PS4 Slim/PS4 Pro = $300-$400, PSVR = $400, PS Camera = $60 which are all required at minimum for it to work, then $20 for a game and then plus tax). It also depends on if VR is even going to become a big thing in the future, it could just sizzle out like motion control did.

It also highly depends on if Sony is just going to drop support for it quickly if it doesn't sell as well as they want it to like with the PS Vita.

PSVR will last much longer

A strong gaming library; or lack there of, will be the determining factor.

i believe the word fad will describe both.

Well does the next PS VR count in those sales aswell?

VR.

How long did the radio last?
How long did the TV last?
How long will VR last?

Answear: a good long while.

I expect PS5 to also have VR support, and any playstation that follows.

VR will endure because its not just Sony working with a device. There are many many different companies invested.
Even Microsoft is building a VR ready console.

To compare it's existance to that of a living being, let me ask: Did it live well? Just because it was a vegetable on life support doesn't mean it was doing much more than merely existing.

Ahem, anyways, I can't really make a call on this one. I'll give the edge to PSVR, because I see more practical applications for it. But will it be that good? Personally, my interest in VR has waned significantly.
