Forums - Sony Discussion - I was Wrong (Part II)

see, i told u all!!! Wii would win you boneheads

Around the Network

I didn't want Sony to win, but I did think Sony WOULD win. When the media was handing Sony it's ass, deep down inside, I felt good. Don't really know why. I had a Playstation 1 and a Playstation 2. They were awesome consoles. How dare Sony make me happy for 10 straight years! Only recently have I been happy for Sony.

I'm a Nintendo fan, but I'm glad Sony is doing better. And yes. I chose wrong.

While I may be wrong now, I will not be wrong in 6 months, when the PS3 will have sold an extra 26m consoles due to the effect of MGS 4.....

Dude, MGS4 is big, but it won't help the PS3 sell 26 mil extra consoles alone.

But it's the saviour of the PS3..... (crying in the corner)

It could still win software wise IMO ... but that will only happen if it can get some serious lead over the 360 untill the end of next year ... so the chances are slim ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

I thought that Sony would have to push prices down little more for sucess. I was (kind of) right.

i was wrong. i didn't think price point would effect sony, because i remember when the ps2 first was on sale and how expensive that was.

but sometimes its good to be wrong

I thought Sony would dominate until I heard Kaz say "499" for 20GB and "599" or "Open Price" in Japan for the 60GB, I cringed when I heard that, I'm sure a lot others did too, at that point I thought the 360 would dominate.

Well, I assumed Sony had things sewn up until the following became apparent:

1) they'd forgotten that lower spec / price often does better in market share than what (at least at launch) seemed ultra elite price

2) the games all seemed focused on West / US and FPS plus Sucker Punch, ND and Insomnic were all making 'darker' games for their first release

3) there was no sign of anything to make it attractive to the family buyer

4) it was going to get tied up in a format war

Still, I'm not calling this gen until both PS3 and Wii have been out much longer and we see where 360 really looks likely to end up.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I assumed the PS3 would be the victor, but I could tell the Wii was going to be pretty big and I figured a reasonably close race between PS3 and Wii (with 360 lagging but still outselling it's predecessor)
