Can you quote me when there is an in-depth side by side comparison only? Thanks. I am looking mainly towards Business Insider's in-depth comparison cause they really had an excellent review of iphone 7 vs S7's camera.

I do think Pixel should be able to beat the iphone 7/Plus Camera however. (Not in all cases though) Apple's camera was once the camera to beat but this generation, not so much apart from the zoom. Still, one way or another, Pixel's camera will certainly be an improvement over the relative cameras the Nexus devices had for sure regardless of whether or not it wins.

Very true, Apple is losing on the imaging processing front too, which is crazy. What's Samsung secret? They jumped 2 generations ahead when it comes to image quality and not even the (months late) iPhone 7 comes close. Are they making their own sensors now?

While I am not a big camera guy, I believe it is due to their dual pixel auto-focus system. Essentially, virtually every smartphone camera and most traditional cameras have 5-10% of its pixels that are dedicated for focusing on a certain object where as the S7's camera uses 100% of its Pixels in order to focus. It allows the camera to focus super fast compared to other smartphones and Samsung's ISOCELL tech helps greatly in lowlight. The results are that when you take a picture, you should get the best results avaliable with the least amount of mistakes, even in low light situations to put it in simply. When you have all these technologies coming together with OIS which also helps taking pictures, the results are craycray.

I hope every phone from next generation has Dual Pixel tech because it is incredible. And yes, they do make their own sensors for their cameras.

Waiting for the second generation. The first one doesn't seem to be as good as the competitors.

Sorry, I meant to ask if Samsung S7 uses Sammy's sensors, I know they make sensors I just don't know if they use them.

Upon further research, some S7s use sensors from SONY and some use Samsung senosrs, both take pretty close pictures, quality wise. Goes to show how much effort (outside of making sensors) Samsung has put into their cameras.

I'm bored by phones by now. They don't differ much (flagships, that is) but people and developers act as if they always create something new and amazing. They even all look the same. Every flagship phone has the same shape, hardware buttons and those brighter stripes to make it look nice but every single flagship has them and at the very same spots.
Why should I care about any of these phones when they only differ marginally? Why don't companies care anymore? How should I be able to build brand awareness when it's just "phone" that I see at a glimpse instead of "Google", "Samsung", "HTC", "Apple"?

(btw don't get all techy now as 98% of phone users are totally not into tech and don't even notice the marginal differences when it comes to voice quality, picture details or whatever)

The only good thing about this is that Google can show the world how to properly build an android phone and use it cleverly, not just based on some prototypes. But they somehow fail to use that for their marketing. Probably that's the key after all, to avoid people noticing Google is getting a bit more of their lives now :P

For something truly unique, you should check out Moto Z and its add-ons. Had the US variant had the Play version as an unclocked option, I would likely have gotten that vs a Pixel.

Yea its similar to how Apple has both TSMC and Samsung making CPUs for them. Both of them perform equally but the cpus manufactured by TSMC is slightly more efficient which gives you slightly longer battery life on the iphone 6s.

Happy with my Nexus 6p. Actually a bit disappointed their moving away from making decent performing no frills reasonably priced handsets to joining the Willy waving arms race.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Looks like US owners on Verizon will still get same day 1 updates as any other Pixel device. I still encourage people to just buy directly from Google, but this is a good sign.

Is this a prank or not? Seems like a iPhone minus the home button.

Also yet another phone stealing Xperia Z's innovative placement of the power button.

All androids are basically iPhones minus the home button as all smartphones have centered on the same basic design mold. Honestly, the only reason people are calling out hte Pixel to be similar in looks to iPhone is due to the antenna bands. Yes that is very similar, but beyond that the characteristics are virtually identical to every other smartphone maker. I guess Pixel has buttons on opposite side as iphone/galaxy line. idk... at this point I don't see why anyone calls out one phone looking similar to another.

Not sure what you're talking about regarding the power button. The three year old Moto X had the same placement and that was designed by Google during the time Google owned Moto. I don't think this button placement is unique to any Android manufacture.
