So, decided to go watch this movie this past week-end because I haven't been to the theatre in a while. The movie bombed as do most remakes these days and the theatre was practically empty. There was a very high ratio of old people so I'm assuming they were counting on nostalgia.
Thoughts:
- The iconic score that comes up as the credit rolls was great. My nostalgia comes mainly from the TV series that used to play when I was a kid. But it was disappointing that they did not use it during the movie.
- Ethan Hawke's character was the only character that had any depth. The others were underdeveloped, lacked motivation or plain lacked sentences. They just joined out of thin air basically. Vincent D'Onofrio's character, well, I couldn't understand a single word he was saying.
- The machine gun introduced at the end was nice but, overall, the action was pretty much the same throughout. A character shoots someone, turns around shoots someone else and so on and so forth. I wish they made the action more exciting and fresh.
- The deaths were quite well done and some were quite unexpected.
- It's still provides some fun but it's not great. I would say watch it on Netflix.
