Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Direct Feed Games: NX Is 3-4x The Wii U, Nvidia Pascal Tegra GPU

To this day we don't know for sure what the WiiU specs are. I wonder if some people think they'll know the NX specs any sooner? I expect that after the NX is announced we'll still know very little about its specs.

Once again you still aren't giving any information on why these areas of the chip can't count for any extra processing abilities. It just sounds like a bunch of people making excuses because they aren't fully sure of how everything works together on the chip.

I was following all of that back and forth on NeoGaf and it seemed like in the end people gave up and just excepted a number because it was to difficult to decide what was actually going on with Latte's design.

Once again? I've only made a single post in this thread. You haven't gotten me confused with someone else have you? Or are you also suggesting I am ignorant on tech?

You just need to look at the die-shots. If the GPU had extra processing capabilities we would be able to see a repeating structure. But we don't.
If there was a hidden CPU in there, we would see it.

It is likely fixed-function units/logic/spare area.

The fact is, the Wii U's general consensus is 160~ shader units. This isn't a bad thing. It still gives it more performance than the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, despite less flops, it's GPU is more modern, it's smarter, it's more efficient and it is backed up by an impressive memory hierachy.

Also you made me actually agree with JRPGfan for once, That's not nice. lol

A lot of people who are taking this rumor at face value and making it out to sound like it says the NX is too underpowered to receive PS4 and Xbone games should probably read the article, which says:

"For starters, Direct Feed Gaming revealed that the Nintendo NX will be 3,4 times more powerful than the Wii U in terms of Gigaflops, also adding that developers won’t have to deal with any technical hurdle if they want to port PS4 and Xbox One games to the NX, as the console will support Unreal Engine 4 and other modern game engines."

Apologies if someone else already brought this up.

I'll just agree to disagree because it's not worth getting reported for having a difference of opinion...

I doubt you would ever be banned for having a difference of opinion, otherwise allot of users would be banned on a daily basis.

If you can point out where the extra processing logic is on the die shots, be my guest.
And not just a "What-if". You need to be certain.

It's probably one of those cases that "if you can't prove there isn't 1 Tflop of processing capacity on the unknow area then there is" situation

It'd be a fantastic successor to the 3DS at these specs, but as a home console, yeah... it'll be screwed.
