Forums - Sony Discussion - Should Shuhei Yoshida be fired from Sony?

Dont get me wrong -Shuhei Yoshida- head of Sony's Worldwide Studios- is one of the nicest and most likable guys in the industry .

The problem is, under his watch, first party games have been constantly delayed- including The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, GT Sport and Horizon Zero Dawn to name a few.

Maybe that's the problem - he's just too damn nice. He needs to be more firm with the development teams  to make sure they are staying on schedule and meeting their deadlines.

I understand that no one wants a game released that is unfinished or broken - but at the same time I don't think developers should make promises they can't keep.

And that's where Shu needs to step in and set the expectations for the teams. If they set a release date - he needs to hold them accountable.

I wonder if he's already in hot water. He's been noticeably absent from Sony press conferences since last year's E3, and with the recent departure of Adam Boyes (another top Sony exec) perhaps Shu is on his way out the door as well?

Too damn nice? Shuhei Yoshida should have been fired from Sony when he suggested Demon's Souls was shit!

No? I would rather have a game thats delayed but it works than a rushed one that doesn't...

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

nope

Of course not.Under his watch the PS4 is a major succeess, most first party games are a big suceess. If that means delaying a game a bit, so be it.(Last Guardian is obviously an exception). If delay were a reason to fire someone, the whole industry would have fired themselves.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Sure, as long as I can have Miyamoto gone from Nintendo yeah??

Ehh.. Nah, i'd rather have a polished game.

His judgement has been working well. The idea that it could be better under a firmer president is pure speculation.

Sony's World Wide Studios is largely responsible for the PS4's success; not only the games, but also the PS4 architecture is born out of WWS teams (Mark Cerny and ICE teams).

My 8th gen collection

Seriously, we're talking about projects that take YEARS. It's nearly impossible to nail something like that down, especially when you consider the increasing complexity of modern games. Missing deadlines and needing to push back a release date should be the least of our concerns. The quality of the product is far more important.

I do not care about delays, there are hundreds of games I do not have time to play anyways.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.
