Forums - General Discussion - Do you consider cheesecake a cake or a pie?

Cheesecake is what?

Cake 58 52.25%

Pie 36 32.43%

Other 17 15.32%

Total:111

This is a glaringly weird anomaly in the food world. What is a cheesecake? A misnamed pie? An exception to the rule in how cakes feel and taste? What do you consider it?

For me, I consider it a pie. I don't like cheesecake. But its name is confusing to say the least

I think it would be a cake; every pie I can think of is composed of either fruit, vegetable or meat.

What about a cream pie?

I love cheesecake!

Also what a fun question... hmmm its probably more of a cake than a pie.

Haven't heard of it.

Generally it's a pie (or a tart) if it's made with filled pastry.

Cheesecake is a layered dessert that is a cake.

It's cake, even when it's baked in pie form.

I'm surprised so many call it cake still. What makes it a cake besides the name? It's got the texture and look and taste of a pie o.o

It's all lies.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Despite the name I think is a pie, also I don't like it

It's cake when the cheese portion is baked with the whole thing. It's pie when the cheese portion is added cold after the baking.

So it depends on the method of cooking that determines what it is then?
