Woah, I just noticed that its software total actually dropped below the PSP's this week (81,000 for the PS2, 82,000 for the PSP).

The PS2 appeared to be just fine during Christmas 07, why did its software in Europe suddenly plummet in 2008?

Well I think we are only tracking 9 titles for both in others, and about half of the PSP sales were from PES '08. Actually PS2 SW has been below PSP SW since its release. So pretty much neither has many titles being tracked, so if one gets a big release it will see a huge jump.
