Forums - Sales Discussion - Amazon U.S. October bestsellers and general Amazon-based discussion

Just for note, when I update next I'll be removing the OG XB1 SKUs from the list. They haven't popped up again recently. If they do just remember the number of SKUs doesn't include the OG XB1s so please don't remind me!

edit: I'd also like to point out, because I've seen conversation about it in the other Amazon thread, when I say something like 'XB1 isn't looking good' I'm using that in the context of the Amazon thread and I'm fully aware that the XB1 is doing remarkably well. I do respect the 'trends' and I WILL draw conclusion on what I am actually seeing and not what I want to see.

Calling it now Xbox One will just edge out this month.

It's the 1st! Come on now, give it just a little time lol

It is better to see the trends for this month before making a prediction. We are on the 1 day of the month, there is not enought information for that.

I find a week is enough to start considering a 'trend' and then two weeks to either confirm or contradict your initial thoughts. After three weeks it's more or less set in stone although anything is still possible in the fourth week depending on what moves each company makes.

I don't think that Sony would make something like Microsoft did with Halo and Recore.  I hope that we will still get some numbers from Aqua.

yeah, I highly doubt Sony would offer something along the lines of MS. I know this might upset some people but they don't have to. People are still obsess with the idea of ONE region and for some reason take their eyes off the bigger picture. Sony would obviously like to take more months this year in the US but at the end of the day they have targets and don't care which region helps them get there.

What's your thinking on this? Gears month and perhaps PSVR taking sales away from PS4? I'd say that's legitimate logic but still too early to call.

edit: I hope that didn't come across as 'passive agressive'.

1. Gears

2. I expect Microsoft will have some kind of fire sale near PSVR launch

3. Sony will likely announce Infintite Warfare bundle in the next week that will take sales from other available bundles

4. I expect PS4 pre orders will pick up getting closer to launch.

I don't think PSVR will have any affect on October sales, seeing as you need a PS4 to use it. So most buyer already have a PS4 or will be getting one with the PSVR.

Yeah, that makes sense. It sums up one of the reasons I think the XB1 could possibly take Oct too, but I'm not going to invest in it just yet. One thing that could upset the apple cart is those with limited disposable income. Anyone who was on the market for a second console (XB1s) could instead opt to use that money to buy a PSVR. We'll see.

Honestly October is the last month of the year I see Xbox haveing a chance to take.

I agree with your 4 points, its going to be a close one (I think).

However it could still go either way.
