         According to Miyamoto, the only concrete detail they settled on was that he's about 24 or 25 years old.

               "I think it was fortuitous that we didn’t put any restrictions on Mario as a character. Normally when you create a character and present him to the world, all the details get filed in: What’s his favourite colour? What kind of food does he like to eat? Aside from the fact that he’s about 24-25 years old, we didn’t define anything else. When we make a game we take care not to add incongruence to that game’s world. With that caveat, I’d like to keep using Mario in future games."

              What the hell. I'm almost the same age as Mario and my moustache is not even half as awesome.. :/

His favorite food is spaghetti though. Anyway, epic moustache for a 24 year old. It's actually funny that they actually thought about what his age would be once.

Due to the thread title I thought for a moment Miyamoto thought they didn't create Mario till 1992.

Even in the movie hes played by a actor around 40 or so.

Shigeru Miyamoto is saying stupid needless things that dont make sense lol.

Mario was made in the 80s, people who were in their 20s had moustaches like that back then. It just happens that they're all in their 40s now because moustaches are not acceptable by people born in the 70s and later.

I'm pretty sure you didn't understand what he said. He basically said that when they created the character, all they decided was that he should be 24-25. Maybe the character ended up looking older, but they intended him to be 24-25 and there's nothing about it that doesn't make sense.
