I'm a gen 8 guy. I loved the PS3, but the industry was in bad shape with all three consoles holding equal share. I felt a serious lack in game quality, and even after I bought my 360, I still was unsatisfied with 3rd party games.

On the 1st party side I think gen 7 was amazing for all three manufactures, but gen 8 has fallen a bit. However, the massive increase of qaulity in 3rd party games has brought the overall gen above gen 7. I think once the NX rolls out (which I will consider gen 8), and we see more 1st party games (Zelda, Gears, Gran Turismo, Horizan), this gen will take the lead in all catagories.

8th is definitely off to an infinitely better start than 7th gen. The resurgence in JRPGs, the popularity of "retro gaming", the embracing of and massive rise and maturing of indie dev studios.

The genre diversity and focus on pure fun and story telling again is a sigh of relief.

7th gen went on to hard with putting photorealism and graphics and realistic guns and explosions and reality simulation on too high of a pedestal.

It's nice to see people embracing games that are just fun and display more vibrant color than just olive drab and desert tan.

I played alot on PS3 in gen 7, but i'm definitely playing more on the PS4, in gen 8.

So far 7th generation. But this still could change in the future because we are still in the middle of the 8th generation.

Btw you forgot to mention PSP and PS Vita in the op...

I probably played my Wii like 20 times as much as I did my WiiU. There was just plenty more good things to play and fun to have. Not only that, but for me the PS4 barely started, while I was addicted to things like Guitar Hero on PS3. 7th gen is so far ahead it's not even funny, that generation was never boring because it brought so many new things. The only thing that probably beats it predecessor by a little or is at least on par with is the 3DS over the DS, but that more due to some incredible games released in it's first three years rather than the last two.

Gen 7 easily. The biggest reason why I like Wii U and Xbox One is because of Gen 7 BC.

Gen 7 only because I had less responsibilities.

But I'm still playing the heck out of Gen 8.

Let's face it, gen 6 was the pennacle of gaming.
