Has This Gen Produced More 10/10 Games For You Than Last Gen So Far?

Yes 19 14.73%

No 98 75.97%

Its About The Same 12 9.30%

Total:129

A Link Between Worlds, and maybe Sm4sh.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I need to play more games from this gen, but let me add Ori and the Blind Forest and probably Outlast.

And, like the OP said, I am Setsuna is also a great name, but I don't know if it deserves a 10/10 because from what I've played (~ 7 hours) the plot still needs to catch my attention. Maybe I should go back to it.

Bloodborne for me. I probably would put Forza Horizon 3 there too if I didn't get played for my pre-order content and some technical issues.

So far there have been no 10/10 games for me, but The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Fire Emblem Awakening came pretty close.

So far there's only one game I'd give a perfect score, and that's The Talos Principle. One of the best games I've ever played, with a fantastic plot behind it and clever puzzles that challenge you in more ways than one. The soundtrack is very beautiful and the philosophical implications are always nice to ponder about and discuss. Seriously, this game is amazing.

For the sake of this thread, I'm going to give the benefit of doubt to a bunch of games I've truly loved, that I wouldn't necessarily give them a 10/10 but at the same time they definitively stand above the rest in many, many reasons:

· The Evil Within, for making me enjoy japanese action-horror again, and being a solid, replayable and absolutely fun game thorough. The dreadful sense that this game evokes is rarely matched by any other, and the dungeon design, that looks straight from a Mario-esque world system (meaning, every chapter/world is radically different in tone and setting) gives it a very unique style.

· Bloodborne, because the Eldritch-esque Lovercraftian atmosphere meshed so damn well with Souls gameplay (which was altered to be even faster and more aggresive-oriented). This game is a gem.

· Smash Bros U, because no other fighting game has given me so much fun while playing with friends.

· Don't Starve, because for once, here's a survival game that it's really fun to get into and play over and over and over again. You also die over and over and over again, but I guess that's also part of the charm.

Just two for me so far.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
At first glance it might appear like a rehash of A Link to the Past, but in reality it's a creation all its own with outstanding level and boss design, a truly engaging hook (the ability to transform into a 2D painting), a surprisingly fun StreetPass mode, excellent use of 3D, and tons of content.

Mario Kart 8 (WiiU)

The Mario Kart series has always turned in winners, but Nintendo outdid itself with this eighth installment. It boasts spectacular and creative tracks, a godly soundtrack, buttery smooth online play, and transcendent anti-gravity mechanics.

The only game I'd score a 10 out of 10 so far is Bloodborne, though Uncharted 4 would also have been a ten if there had just been a few more shooting sections. There have been a ton of solid games so far this gen, and I have an abundance of games to play, but they haven't quite hit that classic status like so many did early on last gen. Bioshock, Mass Effect, Uncharted 2, MGS 4, were all amazing, as was Super Mario Galaxy.

To be fair, this gen has produced a number of games I see as 9s, Ratchet & Clank, Until Dawn, Alien Isolation, Shadow of Mordor (I thought the combat was great), Titanfall, MKX, Soma, amongst others...

Glad to see another fan of Shadow of Mordor and SOMA

Especially Soma. I bought it off a whim on a flash sale and was blown away, one of the best stories in gaming.

Frictional is great. Have you played the Penumbra games?
