Forums - Gaming Discussion - Spencer suggests Scorpio will cost not more than $600 USD

Sounds like they're going to have HD models like the S. So $399 500 gb, $449 1tb, $499 2tb. Probably drop the S to $249 500gb, $299 1tb, $349 2tb.
A model of Xbox priced for everyone.

There are some people out there that will pay that price if that's what it comes out to be. It'll probably be sold at a loss too. If it can do all that's it's saying it can do, it could be worth it.

Microsoft already said it will have a premium price so $399 is a no go. $449 also isn't premium price.

My guess is it will launch at the same price the OG X1 launched or higher => $499+

If $250 is mass market, $400 is premium. Let's be honest, they're throwing around these vague statements because they're still not sure exactly what price point they're going to be able to hit, but I think $399, is a safe bet, especially considering the price of the Pro right now. $499 for the base model would be suicide, as the console as they've announced it doesn't offer enough over the Pro (or even the XB1S) to justify that cost.

I don't recall back in 2013 ps4 price considered as premium with PS360 being under $199, but the xbo1 was. PS4 Pro is cheap because they avoided a new CPU option which would  have put it to $499. Consoles get cheaper when the production cost of the SAME chipset goes down. Completly new chipset allways means higher price at lauch. Sony can affort that ps4Pro price because only the ps4 pro gpu is different(but same architecture) and they have the market lead so they prety much have the garranty that they will sell shit tons of ps4 pro since it is a ps4.  Scorpio has a seperate CPU and GPU so the manufacturing process will be more expensive. So If M$ sells the Scorpio at 399 it will be at lost even in 2017, I know they have money in the bank but I don't think they can simply through it away at will, 399 is too risky for a doubtfull market where all exclusive has been moved to PC

Why do people take Phil Spencer saying it wont be over 600$, to mean it will then be cheap?

You dont say that about a console that comes out at 400$.
If that was the planned price, he wouldnt have needed to say "dont worry its not over 600".

Think back to the launch of the Xbox One with Kinect.
That was 500$.

Honestly if its less than 500$ we should probably be happy.
This doesnt sound like it ends up being a cheap console.
Its why they keep saying "premium".

If your looking to buy a Xbox Scorpio, save up 500$ and wait a year, and your probably covered.

If people want better graphics, they better pay up. Otherwise they can still get the cheaper version of the console for the same games. Sound reasonable.

Wrong.  People are not bound by your logic.  They don't have to get a Slim because they don't want to pay for Scorpio.   People are free to do whatever the hell they want.  Sound reasonable.

Eh, if they want to play xbox games and don't bother with visuals, they will go for the cheaper model. Enthusiasts however are willing to pay more for their hobby if the upgrade is worth it.

Your argument just doesn't follow. Maybe it's because you have none.

Also, it's not just my logic, it's common sense. Better hardware and better graphics equals a higher price.

Yeah, not upgrading anytime soon unless the Scorpio gets exclusives over the Xbox One. I still to this day regret buying this piece of garbage and I miss my 360 and all the games that are not backwards compatable. If the scorpio is just getting the same games at a slightly better resolution I will be making almost the same mistake that I did for this generation. Honestly, I am more likely to just go full PC or quit gaming (I game much less than I used to). Reaching a mid life crisis when it comes to my gaming lol but I guess the X1 did that to a lot of loyal xbox gamers :(

600 is too much, 400 is the Ok price these days

He could be talking about 3DO and 1k USD =~] but yep, over 600,00 USD it would be a hard sale, altough if it was a Playstation I would probably end up paying since I do love its games.

Well they promised (but sure they could break as they done in the past) that X1S will play all the games scorpio will, same with regular X1.
