Forums - Gaming Discussion - Spencer suggests Scorpio will cost not more than $600 USD

Given the comment about wanting it to be seen as a premium Xbox One S, I'll go with $399.99.

I'm still saying it's going to be $399. Anything above that is above mass market adoption. As bunch said, $449 maximum.

$599 would kill the Xbox brand. Sony was able to endure it only because of the worldwide popularity of the ps1 and 2.

Same. $399.

Only if they're extremely confident and stupid do they price it $449 or $499.

$549 for 1TB base model.
$599 for 2TB base model.

Both models to come with a choice of either:

1) Forza 4K DD
2) Halo 5 4K DD
3) Gears 4 4K DD

There won't be a base 500gb model as around 140gb is taken by the OS etc. Halo 5 which is just about full HD takes up 55gb. If Scorpio will do native 4K I can imagine it taking up 90+gb.

There is no way MS will launch at $399 when they couldn't even do the 1TB slim below $349 with an old GPU, less powerful and smaller quantity RAM and overall older tech.

I dont think MS can do 399$ price point on it.
Its going to be minimum 449$.

By then the Xbox One Slim will be 249$ as well.

Callling it. $500 USD.

$400 for the Scorpio, $250 for the S with a game included in 2017.

I don't even understand what he's saying.

Anywho, with only 6 teraflops its gonna be well under $600. I think the Scorpio's GPU is gonna be in the range of the RX 480, that will be worth about $200 by Scorpio launch.

That's what I'm thinking as well. The specs aren't that amazing in the Scorpio, $400 should be feasible.

Hopefully they bundle the Scorpio with a game as well. I'm thinking Gears of War 4 because it should have 4K support.

Looks like the article used Google translate.
The source article says this: "So I wouldn’t get people worried that this thing is going to be unlike any console price you’ve ever seen."
http://www.winbeta.org/news/microsoft-phil-spencer-project-scorpio

I would use that wording instead in the OP.

But yeah that would suggest a price no larger than $600. Unless there's been another console that's more expensive than fat PS3? Perhaps a NEO GEO?

Is Steam machine a console ?

Microsoft already said it will have a premium price so $399 is a no go. $449 also isn't premium price.

My guess is it will launch at the same price the OG X1 launched or higher => $499+
