Forums - Gaming Discussion - Spencer suggests Scorpio will cost not more than $600 USD

However, in a recent statement with WinBeta, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, said that although it is a premium product that will not be cheap, nor will a higher price than another “which has already heard in the video game industry before.” This could be a clear reference to PlayStation 3 console more expensive at launch and which had a suggested retail price of $600 USD in 2007.

“When we designed both of these, which we kind of designed it in parallel. We thought about the price performance of what we wanted to hit with the Scorpio, relative to what we were going to be able to do with the S. So that we would have a good price continuum, so people wouldn’t look at these two things as so disconnected because of the price delta,” said the executive.

$599.99

I'm predicting a $449 launch price. Maybe even $399 if they are in the mood to price war PS4P.

I'm still saying it's going to be $399. Anything above that is above mass market adoption. As bunch said, $449 maximum.

$599 would kill the Xbox brand. Sony was able to endure it only because of the worldwide popularity of the ps1 and 2.

I still think its going to be 449-499$.

Under 600$ doesnt mean anything, ofc its going to be under that! It would be insane to price it higher.

Its a premium product. They are aiming higher than 400$ with this one.

People are willing to pay extra if they like where that money goes.

Wal-Mart pricing.

If people want better graphics, they better pay up. Otherwise they can still get the cheaper version of the console for the same games. Sound reasonable.

I would say around 449-599 depending on the model range. I believe they will have a price competitor model for Sony’s Pro. However if you want the big mother model than expect closer to 599.
