Just focusing on first party output it's still probably Nintendo, with Sony in second place. Taking into account all exclusive releases I'd say Sony has the best lineup of games. Of course, a lot of this depends on what type of games you prefer.

It really strikes me, looking at that list, as to why Nintendo has fallen. You do the same thing over enough, for long enough, and the luster will wear away. They go this route again with the NX and they aren't going to win over new customers, just retain the old ones. Splatoon and Xenoblade are the only games that stand out whatsoever.

That is a lineup, other than the games I mentioned, that is narrowed in on one type of player. If it were 1985, that would be great, but it's not. Everyone else will be looking at other options first.

I'd argue that's Nintendo's strength. By doing the same thing, and doing it masterfully for three decades, the company has set itself apart from the competition. Using a design philosophy from 1985 is far from a bad thing. Applying new technologies to solid mechanical foundations is what makes Nintendo special. Meanwhile, much of Sony's first-party content is focused on experimental titles and cinematic action games - flashy titles for sure but with little staying power. Microsoft, well, Microsoft seems to have thrown in the towel. Halo is a wreck. Lionhead is gone. I guess it's Forza and Gears moving forward.

If we're talking about games that appeal to me personally, it would be:

Microsoft >>> Sony/Nintendo tied

If I am taking personal taste out of it and looking at it objectively:

Nintendo >>>>>>>> Microsoft/Sony tied

Good luck getting people to discuss it rationally though, OP. As you've already seen, people want to stretch and bend rules and complain until as many of their favorite toy makers games can be included.

I agree. They really do nurture their franchises like very few other companies does. Its kind of reassuring that Ive been playing Super Mario for close to 30 years now and I still adore the franchise and characters. I usually get tired of franchises after a few years, but Nintendo are really great at keeping theirs fresh and timeless.

Playstation. By far.

Entwined - Pixel Opus - 1st party studio,
Sony Santa Monica - Bound, Fat Princess Adventures, Unfinished Swan, Escape Plan, Journey, Flower, Flow

xdev - Until Dawn, Beyond two souls(PS4), heavy rain (PS4), Alienation, Resogun, Super Stardust Ultra
Bloodborne - Japan Studio

Also Considering Wii U was released a year early 2012 to PS4 2013, Sony First party were still releasing bulk load of games for PS3 in 2012 and 2013. But if it is about this gen then I don't see the point of remasters being on the list.

Love how people's agendas always come out in these threads. They all have been disappointing. Also don't see how a single one of them beats the others by a "mile".

Nintendo > Microsoft >>>>>>>>>>> Sony

Even though Sony is way down the list based on just first party line it has a good third party library to offset it.

It's always been the same for me I bought Nintendo and Microsoft consoles for their great exclusives and buy Sony consoles for the great third party support.

Nintendo of course.

100% of Nintendo buyers buy their systems just for their 1st party games. (100% may be an exaggeration, more like 10000%)
