That's really difficult to speculate on now. The game has changed. The NX wont be as strong as the PS4Pro and Scorpio, so if anything it might be like the Wii. Whatever the NX gimmick is, if its successful, then I think Sony and MS might create an add-on like Move or Kinect for their current gen consoles. I think the earliest another 9th gen console comes out, is probably around 2018.

I mean, it really depends on how well NX is received, and even that's based off of what we know which is...nothing. If NX is supposed to be a device that catches fire, there's no stopping it, if it's another console that tries to hard and nothing comes of it (Wii U), it'll be outdone within the first year of PS5 or Xbox2's release. I don't think we'll see PS5 or Xbox 2 too soon, maybe in 3 years or so. That is unless, NX is something so revolutionary that its competitors can't help but to copy it.

I think you're thinking too linear. Nintendo is no longer competing with those two. Not so much a public announcement that they wouldn't be trying to compete with sony and microsoft, but rather their actions suggest it's better if they ran their own race. Ever since their E3 when they had a direct instead of the old fashion press conference, they've been acting like those two don't even matter. They key to their success is to act on their own with different reasons to buy their console instead of directly competing with other home consoles.

This question doesn't make sense in practice, only semantically. We don't know anything about the console yet. All we have are rumors, and they're somewhat vague too. For all we know, the lead could either last forever or vanish within a year from the release of the next Playstation or Xbox. It's practically impossible to predict, and I don't like shots in the dark. The question could equally well be 'Roll a dice. Which value did you get?'

you're tlaking about "gained lead", what exactly is that? sales? or what? because if this thing sells more than the Wii U that's a miracle, so again, what kind of lead are you tlaking about? just time? if just time, who cares? do you think that Sony needs to release PS5 because Nintendo released a weak handheld hybrid weaker than the xb1? do you relaly think that Sony cares/is worried about that?
