Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ubisoft CEO: NX will put Nintendo ‘back in the race’

Personally i don't believe the "back in the race" is towards something specific like the home console segment. Given his past comments of casual gamers and EA's comments saying it won't appeal to PS4 gamers and that NX is to upgrade mobile gamers, the "race" is talking about is something more generic, as in, Nintendo is again a serious competitor in the gaming industry (both mobile and traditional gaming) with NX.

I must have missed this, was EA talking about the NX or WiiU.  Do you happen to have a link a quick search on my end didn't yeald that paraphrase?

Thanks for the question because you made me go look for the source and i realised i was wrong: the quote was not from EA, but from a unnamed developer that MCV spoke to: "It’s a nice bit of kit, a bit of a novelty, but a good one,” said one exec that has got hands on with the machine. “It won’t appeal to PS4 fans. Nintendo seems set on trying to upgrade smartphone gamers. That’s going to be a big job for the marketing department.”

Sorry about the mistake!

I'll believe it when I see it

...and when they announce what it actually is

Dang, more encouraging words from Ubisoft, and it's kinda weirding me out. Either the NX has the potential to be awesome, or Ubi is just overhyping this for unknown reasons..

I'm pretty sure we're all being trolled. NX doesn't exist. NX is a hype filled hoax designed to drive up Nintendo stock. Watch Nintendo sell everything and retire to a island they own.

That island will be called Japan.

Ubisoft is a very successful company. Even with questionable content at times, it's obvious that they have a good sense of what's going to do well and what isn't

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Really seems that Ubi is very hyped about NX and they are expecting lots from it, all those statements means they have multiply projects for NX.

I hope Nintendo in near future will start helping Ubisoft about NX marketing. :D

Let us hope so. No consumer benefits if Nintendo loses.

No worries. Thanks for finding it.  Still a disheartening quote for those of us that are hoping for a machine on par with at least a vanilla PS4 so that there is a little hope for demanding multiplats... who knows perhaps I'm reading too much into the quote

I don't think the "it won't appeal to PS4 fans" is a power thing. From what i have read up until now, Nintendo doesn't want to just appeal to home console games... kinda like the Wii (it was all about how you play) with the difference that this won't be that underpowered! Rumour has it that it's similar to XB1 even if not on paper.

I personally don't think NX versions won't or will exist because of power but mainly because of strategy.
From "upgrading mobile gamers" to "a reboot for Nintendo", NX will be a different machine - and in my opinion a very competent one at that!
