Phil Spencer Says Microsoft Is Not Converting Xbox One Owners To PC

During a new interview with The Guardian, Spencer says this move is trying not to convert console players to play on PC and vice versa. It’s just a way to make games more accessible for PC owners.

He said: “PC gaming and console gaming are different, and the customer segments have capabilities and expectations that are unique to the platforms they play on.

“But I bristle at the idea we’re bringing the platforms ‘together’. It’s not that I’m trying to turn PC gamers into console gamers or console gamers into PC gamers. We just know, and I’m sure you’re tracking it, the health of PC gaming is incredibly high right now, and we know some of our best and most active customers on Xbox One are also PC gamers – so we see this opportunity to service the customer and where they actually play, and they want to stay connected to their friends wherever they are

Why would he feel the need to say that?

The PS5 Exists.

He's absolutely right. Sadly they also don't do anything to interest PC gamers in Xbox either. Or maybe I should be saying luckily because they're the only ones who are nice enough to port their exclusives to PC.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm not worried of Microsoft trying to turn XBox gamers into PC gamers, but the other way around. The way they tried to create a more closed environement with W10 and all of the talks of pushing more for PC gaming while still keeping services like XBox Live alive (in particular, fee to play online in consoles) might just create an environement with the disadvantages of both PC and console.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I wonder if there will ever be backlash from xbox customers having to pay for online and getting no exclusives over  pc gamers.

There was some rumbling when they announced everything was coming to pc, but microsoft ignored it.

PC Gaming is very healthy right now so makes sense to Microsoft to port games over there.

This article and interview are over two months old but what he is saying is logical and makes sense regardless of what some here used to rant about in every Xbox thread.

Its hella nice to have Steam and Xbox games together on one platform.

PC I i7 3770K @4.5Ghz I 16GB 2400Mhz I GTX 980Ti FTW

Consoles I PS4 Pro I Xbox One S 2TB I Wii U I Xbox 360 S

I'm an Xbox One owner and have absolutely NO interest on playing on PC.

The general idea of merging Xbox and Windows along with tablets and the like into their UWP, is just that. They are aiming for a single number count, where they get the bigger number under one banner. It makes sense for them to take full control of PC gaming and lock it down towards creating a console like enviroment where they are in control and you are limited as to what you can do, who is supported etc.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see
