So...I think it makes sense to seriously look at the Slim.

You could get the Slim with Uncharted 4, get a 2TB hard drive, and still have some money left over.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

That sounds like a good idea. What kind of hard drives does the PS4 support?

Quite simple, if you hardcore and want future proofed console go for PS4 Pro.

If you normally buy mid gen because of price then PS4 slim makes more sense. Just wait for Black Friday deal, $249 likely.

Any 9.5mm 2.5 inch drive. I have a 2TB Seagate where I just bought a portable drive and pulled it out of the case.

Thanks for letting me know.

If you're a first time PS4 buyer, then Slim. It's a cheaper purchase and will allow to try the PS4's games library, and then when you become more attached to the PS community, you can upgrade.

Thanks for the advice.

How's Bloodborne? It looks like a cool game to me.

framerates/performance are better in general on PS4 than PS3; devs seems to use 60fps as a selling point now this gen even if their games barely reaches 60 max fps (sub 60 is far better than sub 30). you will notice low frames a lot less often this gen than last gen in my experience so the slim probably wont be bad at all framerate wise. however it is hard to recommend it over pro when pro comes with over double the GPU power and double the HDD space. Even without a 4k screen you supposedly get increased framerates and other visual upgrades. 500Gb is a struggle to work with, I would suggest 1Tb but then at that price now it is $350 for slim and $400 for pro.

Also it is hard to trust Sony and other publishers NOT to prioritize the pro version. If they do, what would happen to the og/slim versions? will frames/performance be worse than what these console owners are used to today? that may not happen but you don't want to put yourself in a position to find out. Pro is just a safer and better choice imo.

The first bolded point was exactly my concern when the PS4 Pro was leaked. I felt that if people who already have a PS4 hear that they would hear that they would need the PS4 Pro in order to have smooth performance, their fans would be very unhappy.

I agree with the second bolded point as well. I hope that they aren't sold out by the time I go buy one later on.
