Forums - Gaming Discussion - What is the sensation of being "offended"? What does it feel like?

Ask the Swedes, it's their national pastime now.

If you can't be offended does that mean the mods can't ban me when I call you a retard? (hypothetically)

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Best not watch frankie boyle then :)

Aren`t you Swedish? We should just ask you then

Hah! I'm actually from Norway but I live in Sweden, been observing this fascinating phenomenon of taking offense at the strangest things for my three years there now.

I don't get offended too easily, so there's that..

So is that only a Sweden thing? Or does it happen in viking land (Norway) too?

I think you just offended a bunch of Swedes.

Nah, people are offended easily in Norway as well, but Swedes are better at being offended on other people's behalf, it seems. They are also able to extract crazy interpretations out of seemingly orindary or insignificant things (there was one quite recent example in the media here, revolving around a photo).

Not much, it would seem, if you think soccer riots are healthy conflict resolution and not people being offended because--fuck, I don't even know why, I guess they're offended because someone else said something mean about the team they like.  Doesn't matter if you don't want to call it that just because it doesn't fit into your preconceptions.

Maybe you're right. I wish I knew more so I could debate you, as I said I'm only Irish, I don't have the ability of being right because I say so. I'll start holding in all my aggression, it'll all go splendidly, I am sure, thank it all that I'm not in school anymore nor do I own any weaponary. Again, I only Irish at the end of the day so If I'm ignorant or offensive, please forgive me.

I'm glad you realize your own shortcomings, even if you don't know how ignorant you sound when you typecast 300 million people.  We have states bigger than the United Kingdom.  If you thought about it, you'd know how silly that is but I get the feeling this isn't about you thinking, it's about you being passive aggressive.  Maybe that's a thing with you English, I don't know.

What, the Swedes were vikings too? I thought it was mostly a Norway/Denmark thing?

It was pretty much a whole Scandinavian thing.

You`re trying to make him feel `offended` by repeatedly saying he`s English even though he`s not... right?

More of a tongue in cheek thing for my own amusement.  He says the Irish don't get offended yet I remember reading awhile back that some Irish people got offended because Irish celebrities were labeled as British or English.

Plus he probably has no idea how idiotic it sounds to call someone from Texas or Georgia a "Yank".  I thought that calling him English might clue him in but ... probably not.  I might as well switch to the more accurate "Mick" now, I suppose.
