I shit you not I literally just explained what a WiiU was to a guy from work a few months ago. Many people still think it is a Wii accessory to this day outside those who follow gaming news. I think the advertising and name hurt that system the most to be honest. There will be many who will look at the NX as the long awaited Wii successor.

If they drop all the Wii Remotes and stuff on the NX, then people might not be confused with the Wii and the NX.

As for the topic, recently I have no idea. 2 years ago parents do ask what it is when they bring their child over.

Last holiday season, while I was killing time in the Walmart video-game section, I overheard a father ask his kid something about needing a Wii U for his Wii to play one of the new games or if it would play on the Wii without it. The little boy was like, "no, dad, it's a completely different system," in this patient voice. I had to turn away because it was so funny.

No. As long as NX is a new brand, Nintendo will be ina better position as it will seems to the general public that is their new shiny system since the Wii.

They do but it's a bad system so they don't want it.

The general public is not made up by 60 year old gentlemen. Gamers are a big part of the general public.
