For Paragon on PS4 Pro, Epic has added dynamic lighting along with enhanced geometry and scene complexity. The game also utilizes new volumetric effects such as light shafts and fog; motion blur; enhanced HLOD (hierarchical level of detail) and increased view distance; screen space reflections; contact shadows; procedural grass; and advanced light bloom.

“From a rendering perspective it lets us more closely realize our vision for the game by reducing the number of compromises we have to make for performance,” he said.

Paragon runs at a rock solid 60fps in full 1080p on PS4 Pro... [Nirolak's Note: It's normally 900p/60fps.]

Games that are already available for PS4, such as Paragon, which is in Open Beta, can still take advantage of PS4 Pro capabilities thanks to the console’s forward compatibility.

“Supporting PS4 Pro for enhanced 1080 is as easy as enabling the support in the Sony publishing tools,” according to Marcus Wassmer, Epic’s core rendering team lead.

“Unreal Engine 4.13 is already fully capable of taking advantage from that perspective. Doing this will give you an immediate large performance boost on a title running on PS4 Pro. What you choose to do with the extra performance is totally up to you.”

Your not getting veryhigh-ultra settings 1080p60.

That doesnt sound so bad, still a noticable upgrade from the normal PS4.
Stuff like this probably does make that 100$ differnce between it and the slim worth it.

This is the stuff I'm more interested in than 4k. Putting too much focus on 4k just means there's less benefit for non-4k TV owners, and this offers more obvious benefits for everyone, I think.

They're trying to straddle two markets at the moment but are choosing to promote the 'enthusiast' market first. These other things will be highlighted more later.

Spot on Gribb. Most games going forward will see this kind of benifit, along with the 4K & HDR. Sony has laid out the tools, it is now up to the developers to do right by them. I think there are enough upstanding devs/pubs that they will make it standard to see stuff like we are seeing from Tomb Raider and Paragon.

@Zkuq, as the dev is saying in Gribbs OP, they don't have to do a lot of work to do magic. The development enviorment is already scaleable. So tweaking things to work at 1080p/All the bells and whistles, 1080p/Best fps, and 4K HDR/Solid Frame Rate is a reletivlty easy project. Supporting them all equally benefits everyone, 4K HDR is going to continue to grow very rapidly, and the benfits will be well worth it as new revisions to hardware continue to support all previous and future games.

I'm glad they're finally talking about 1080P. As someone who just bought a HD smart tv less than a year ago, I'd like to put off jumping into 4K until I feel I got my monies worth.
