Or do you mean the how close the Wii U name was to the Wii? Because lets be fair to Nintendo in one regard, the Wii/U name and confusion blunder was not the first time they used a naming scheme on 2 generations before, Don't forget that in Gen 3 they had Nintendo Entertainment System and in Gen 4 they just added Super to make it the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, a move which could be rather confusing if it was marketed as badly as the WiiU was (a lot of people still think it was either an addon or a portable system which required a Wii system)

No matter what the name is, someone somewhere will find ways to twist it into something negative. Nintendo named their console Wii. It sounds like another word for piss, then they named their next console Wii U. They dont care what people think of it, they only care that people will remember it.

lol, love those memes so much, my fav was always

Just so daft, but I mean they get stuck in your head and sort of raise a point about the launch of the ps3, but then people were still using that as console wars ammo when the PS3 was churning out some of the best games of last generation.

That would be a cool name... if not for the fact that they're releasing that NES mini console over the holidays, people could buy that for some family members as christmas little gifts but then see another NES system coming in march which would have a giant price tag and again the casual buyer might not know immediately that the product is a new system and not more NES mini games but at a huge price this time because it features some portabilty.

well in Japan, everythime you see an X, they usually call it "cross" and seeing how the NX is probably a hybrid console, i see them giving it a full console name of "Nintendo Entertainment Cross-Platform" or the "NEX" for short.
