Forums - Gaming Discussion - What is important to you in a Fighting game?

I like Mortal Kombat the most because of it's lore, back story and overall vibe. Street Fighter is great technically (and I do have fun playing it with other people), but it's always been way too light and cartoonish for me.

So I guess aesthetics are the most important thing. As long as it's good of course.

Link being in it :D

Soul Caliber 2 (GC):
Link's grab move was perfect for getting characters off the edge. Plus he had fast heavy attacks and the fairy sword was a great item. and it's good to see Link in a fighting fighting game.

Smash Bros (N64), Melee (GC), Brawl (Wii), SSB4 (Wii U):
Link has a perfect range of projectiles, close range combat moves (fast and powerful), and a slick control scheme. Plus he is Link.

I have (or have/had in the household): ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, NES, Sega Master System, Super Nintendo, Sega Megadrive, Gameboy, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Windows 95, Gameboy Colour, Windows 98, Sega Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Windows XP, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, Windows Vista, iPhone, Windows 7, 3DS, Wii U, PS4, Windows 10, PSVR, Switch, PS5 & PSVR2. :D

and I Don't have: Magnovox Odyssey, Any Atari's, Any Macintosh computers, Sega Gamegear, Virtual Boy, Sega Saturn, N-gage, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PSP, PSVita & Andoid Phone. Plus any non-main-stream consoles/platforms I haven't mentioned.

Big beewbs, skimpy outfits and breast physics. ;)

It is fun and has a lot of content, preferably having a lot of unlockable content to increase the replay value. I do not play competitively, I just like having a good time. I do not really care how technical it is as long as I'm able to play it. My favourite fighting games are Super Smash Bros., Street Fighter, Dead or Alive, Tekken, Soulcalibur, Virtua Fighter, BlazBlue and King of Fighters.

I always liked the good old Killer Instinct with the speed you could play at.

ot sure about the one on xbox because they decided to butcher it and release it in a billion parts.

I guess for me it comes down to the characters. I'm usually down with a fighter when it has cool looking characters, good presentation, and style. Fighters I like are KoF, Guilty Gear, Samurai Showdown, and the Last Blade. There are other random small games like Waku Waku 7 that I like too, and then there's Smash Bros too. I guess it needs some sort of quirkiness for me to get interested.

And on the techinical level, I'd say I'm a 4.

Is having stuff to unlock important or do you prefer everything to be just be available from the start?

i'm a casual fighter, so acessibility, when shit happens even when you don't know the combos, like Tekken.

Gameplay. Meaning movement options, potential combos, balancing, offense > defense (but have enough defensive options for, again, balancing), large enough roster for variety in matchups, little to no RNG factor. Stuff like that... so, I mostly care about the competitive side of things

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.
