Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Chinese Foxconn sketch artists returns with the NX

I'm fine with it as long as though don't give Core Gamers the finger again.

That's what I hope too but I think Nintendo can still do a special snowflake console without abandoning core gamers.  The biggest problems with the Wii to me outside of pandering to casuals was that Nintendo force-fed the gimmick in everything even when it wasn't needed and it wasn't powerful enough to get 3rd party ports.  In fact, I'd have preferred if they had kept on improving motion controls because it was the one device to my knowledge that could realistically subsitutue for a computer mouse on a console platform.

Pretty bad that there is even debunking of hand sketches these days. Nintendo needs to reveal the thing already.

so Ubisoft has been lying about NX so far, about Nintendo learning.

If this confirms Eurogamers reports, then NX is dead in the water

Why would it be dead in the water?

Also is this definitely a replacement for the 3DS and the Wii U?

Under powered console weaker than XB1,no third party(justl ike Wii U),this thing would be dead n the water. West devs wont give a poo developing or downporting their games to a weaker system(ala Wii U)

Also, it didn't help that the Wii U was hard to develop for compared to the PS4 and XB1 and that it was hard for developers to get in-touch with Nintendo when they were having problems with it (or so the rumors say).

If this is true its not a device, or well, series of devices I would be interested in, I prefer the "all in one" option, a docking station is fine, the "performance" model and the lack of a normal controller in the box, seem like a definite deal-breaker. For me to be interested it would have to be either a pure handheld with a docking station or a pure home console with current gen graphics, this seems like its trying to do everything but does nothing exceptionally well, which is what I am most afraid of.

Hopefully I can get only the thing that plugs in the tv and a regular controller. Otherwise it´s Wii U all over again for me.

"NX is a console-handheld hybrid. It is detachable. It contains the console itself, performance module, and the handheld/gamepad.

The console (I think it is supposed to be a dock. I'll call it a dock from now on) contains HDD, cartridge slot and various other interfaces. It supports TV output (but no CPU/GPU).
The performance module is a portable device that provides power supply. It contains a Li-Ion battery. CPU/GPU also is contained inside. It supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and wired connections. You plug the dock inside and it becomes a PS4/Xbone like console, but you can also transfer the signals to the handheld (like Remote Play?)
There are two candidate SoC for it: Pascal SoC from nVidia or AMD R9 SoC.

The handheld part is a 6 inch 720p screen and has a low-TDP SoC, which can satisfy basic operations with lower quality graphics when the performance module is not connected. But it can also display game graphics from the performance module which can provide a console-level graphics. A bit like nVidia Shield streaming. You can bring the performance module with you portable since it has its own battery.

Additional info: whatever the solution will be the computing power it has falls behind a PS4, let alone a PS4 Pro. Don't have high hopes for that. The selling point for it is high portability and hybrid providing rich gameplay possibilities.

If details don't get revealed in Oct then maybe wait for the beginning of next year. I welcome you guys to necrobump this post. Period."

fake, already confirmed.

If this is true, hopefully they offer an all-in-one deal. It seems like it will have multiple skews based on how much of it you want.

This seems really cool. It IS the January 2014 Fusion concept. It looks like the original "leak" may have been real. Goes to show that Nintendo lost faith in Wii U in the first year. Not surprised, it was GameCube 2.
