Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Files For Another Projector Patent (Uneven Surfaces This Time)

This actually sounds like some pretty interesting technology.

This could also be a QoL product instead yet another NX patent.

This patent could mean VR without a headset.
First Nintendo create 3D screens without 3D glasses, now VR without a headset? Who wants a ride on my hype train with me? XDXDXD

...Nintendo finally tells us what it is, and its just a Wii U redesigned but the controller can read cartridge games and is 100% portable;
not that I dislike this idea I love it. I just hope the console has other new revolutionary stuff too. The chance is high as Ubisoft's reaction generally expressed that. I want their idea blows my mind the same way the Wii did when it first was unveiled. XD

I have (or have/had in the household): ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, NES, Sega Master System, Super Nintendo, Sega Megadrive, Gameboy, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Windows 95, Gameboy Colour, Windows 98, Sega Dreamcast, Gameboy Advance, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, Windows XP, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, Windows Vista, iPhone, Windows 7, 3DS, Wii U, PS4, Windows 10, PSVR, Switch, PS5 & PSVR2. :D

and I Don't have: Magnovox Odyssey, Any Atari's, Any Macintosh computers, Sega Gamegear, Virtual Boy, Sega Saturn, N-gage, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PSP, PSVita & Andoid Phone. Plus any non-main-stream consoles/platforms I haven't mentioned.

Is this still a thing? With Running and even Workout apps on all smartphones I think Nintendo has a big loser on their hands with the QualityOfLife project.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Sounds goog, you change the controler position, field of view changes. Sounds like a crazy enough concept to be real.

NX I think might be trying to bring back the "arcade" appeal is gaming. Remember when you were a kid and going to arcade you could meet people and they'd gather around and play together.

Well in a modern context, imagine a small little portable device you can carry anywhere. When you play alone you can use the screen, but when people are around and want to play, it can project an image anywhere and the controllers detach so multiple people can join in and play.

People passing by will see what you're playing and want to join in too.

Add in some funky controller add-ons and hand gesture sensors on the side of the unit .... and voila ... Nintendo NX.

Nintendo's "answer" to anti-social gaming (ie: VR, playing alone in a basement, playing on your phone detached from everyone else).

The other thing is if you've ever been to Japan you'll be surprised to see that arcade gaming isn't just alive and well, it's huge. It's everywhere in Japan.

I.e. Xbox live and PSN.

VR hasn't even released much less become as big a factor of bedroom hiding and not playing as groups any longer.  As an arcade kid these are the services I think that cause my son and his friends to sit in dark rooms, not VR (yet).

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

Oh! That would make more sense.

So, you turn on this projector. And aim the handheld onto the table. Or put it down, to type stuff out. Why not jsut use the the handheld you're already holding? If it's just to display your image. Good luck holding still, for other people.

Somehow that reminds me of Pokemon Go........ XD Imagine people doing that on the streets! I also wonder how the battery life would be. It will probably recommend to play near a power point..... which does restrict stuff but provide safety from people playing anywhere.

Outside projecting wouldn't work right. Daylight would screw any good use out of this.

It's a games machine, not a word processor.  Use your imagination a little. I mentioned a keyboard as an example of the tech.  For a Nintendo type experience, imagine a soccer ball projected on the floor that you can actually interact with. An AR experience in real life. A Pokemon sitting on your sofa.

If they offer this it will be as a separate ad on. There's no way Nintendo is dumb enough to work the cost of a projector into every into when a vast majority of people will never use it with any regularity.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

My thoughts also. Maybe it can swapped in for one of the controller parts/ports and used that way.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

It has been lagging. And I also think they've lost their chance, there are already bands similar in size to their Pokemon Go Plus device that can already measure your activity, heart rate and sleep track for 30 days straight which only cost 10eur.
