60fps?

Generally, unless I'm running with VSync turned off, 60fps isn't smooth enough for me, but I find that I'd prefer it over 30fps in any game/genre.

Seriously? Yeah, you have 120Hz monitors, but how does one become accustomed to those high framerates to the point that even 60fps just doesn't feel quite enough anymore? I think that's fascinating.

With only a 60Hz monitor and no friends with anything faster I haven't even experienced higher than 60fps, apart from possibly back in the days with CRT-monitors, but games weren't as smooth back then even if they ran at +60fps (I always experienced it as some kind of microstuttering but worse), and very seldom did my hardware allow +60fps.

Pokemon

Put in XY/ORAS and compare the game with 3D and without. Try using a flying pokemon like Talonflame to see the difference

Never appreciated Pokemon's silky smooth framerate until I tried playing XY on 3d

I noticed this with the recent MH demo I tried. The regular look to the visuals looked a wee bit blurry, then I switched to 3D and things were that bit clearer and better looking.

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

2D sidescrollers, shmups, anything with a lot of fast lateral movement.
in 3D it doesn't matter that much to me, but looks better when racing above 300 mph.

For specific games, Mario maker, Pixeljunk shooter, Resogun, Wipeout HD.

I'd say DOOM, on my PC. With two exceptions so far, all games are effectively unplayable at 30fps on my rig for some reason, but a drop of only 5 frames in DOOM can be readily seen and felt.

Anything that has some kind of precise movement involved, and by precise it's enough to have some cursor movement even if it doesn't have to be fast. That's basically a lot of real-time games and then some. It's not just the graphics but even more importantly the feel and responsiveness. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of games still have controls tied to framerate (and I'm not sure there's an easy way around it).

To narrow it down a bit, obviously the more precision and speed you need, the more a game benefits from high framerate.

All of them.

If I had to be specific, it'd be fast paced action games a la Metal Gear Rising that benefit the most.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

As I mentioned in another topic, games like F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and Splatoon would be significantly inferior experiences at 30fps, in my opinion.

Their fluidity is a big part of why they feel so good to play.

my favorite is prototype and i am always getting hype at it whenever i play it at 60fps.

Its very good in all Open world games, Racing games and First Person/Third Person shooters or action games.
Also the faster the game is the more important it is.

Its extremely essential in VR games!
