Am I crazy or why is the PS Vita number different in the NeoGAF thread?
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1282019

VGChartz: 11,829, NeoGAF: 12.931

For some reason, Google Translate changed the number rofl.  Good spot.  I fixed it now (it was the higher one :P)

Good sales!

What other boosts are coming for ps4 in the near future?

I'll list a few coming this year but note that some will boost a lot more than others.

BF1 - First time series is next gen only

Infinite Warfare / COD4

Yakuza 6 - First time series is next gen exclusive

PS4 Pro launch

PS4 slim final fantasy XV limited edition launch

Final Fantasy XV launch

PSVR launch

Gravity Rush 2

World of Final Fantasy

The last guardian

Then you have many smaller titles like FIFA 17, watch dogs 2 etc etc.

Basically ps4 2016 sales will be very healthy and will not be far off the ps3 peak year sales of 1.8m.

Thank you! Seems like PS4 will start showing it's potential finally

That was a fine openning for P5, Ps4 slim job well done

This week was released Utawarerumono and there was a collaboration ad with Shibuya 109. The game was quite huge, especially at dedicated anime stores. It seems the bulk of the sales are coming from the pre-orders of the limited editions.

Nothing interesting, more than Mario Maker ads and YW3 guide book being popular. Also that Pokémon Go Plus is out there, lol.

What a packaging for Pokemon go Plus XD

15. Musou (Dynasty and Samurai Warriors)

Isn`t that more a genre than a franchise?

Although even if your are including them all together as a single franchise it seems kind of unfair to only include those two. One Piece, Gundam etc should be included as well really.

I combined Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors because their sales numbers are very similar (with a slight advantage to Dynasty) and One Piece, Gundam, etc. only show up further down the list.

But you do have a point and it'd be better to list them this way:

1. Final Fantasy
2. Dragon Quest
3. Gran Turismo
4. Resident Evil
5. Hot Shots Golf

6. Kingdom Hearts
7. Tekken
8. Crash Bandicoot
9. PaRappa The Rapper
10. Onimusha

11. Dance Dance Revolution
12. Pro Evolution Soccer
13. Arc the Lad
14. Parasite Eve
15. Dynasty Warriors

16. Samurai Warriors

17. Metal Gear Solid
18. Grand Theft Auto
19. Gundam
20. Xenogears

21. SaGa
22. Yakuza
23. Tales of
24. Ridge Racer
25. Dragon Ball

26. Legend of Mana
27. Star Ocean
28. Dragon's Dogma
29. Dino Crisis
30. Chrono

31. Call of Duty

Thats really cool !!

PERSONA 5 - awesome Sales Figures with the PS4. That is good for the Games-and "AAA"-industry =) And the PS4 + Persona 5 is the number 1 on amazon-Japan. I'm really happy for this game : )

Top 30 best selling franchises on PlayStation home consoles in Japan (franchises with a mainline title on PS4 in bold):
1. Final Fantasy
2. Dragon Quest
3. Gran Turismo
4. Resident Evil
5. Hot Shots Golf

6. Kingdom Hearts
7. Tekken
8. Crash Bandicoot
9. PaRappa The Rapper
10. Onimusha

11. Dance Dance Revolution
12. Pro Evolution Soccer
13. Arc the Lad
14. Parasite Eve
15. Musou (Dynasty and Samurai Warriors)

16. Metal Gear Solid
17. Grand Theft Auto
18. Gundam
19. Xenogears
20. SaGa

21. Yakuza
22. Tales of
23. Ridge Racer
24. Dragon Ball
25. Legend of Mana

26. Star Ocean
27. Dragon's Dogma
28. Dino Crisis
29. Chrono
30. Call of Duty

This actually gives some perspective.

PS4 has only received mainline titles from 8 of these 30 best selling franchises and as you say 0 from the top 10.

I'm not expecting PS2 numbers at all but it'll be interesting to see how much PS4 will benefit from these big games.

A lot of the biggest games will release within 12 months.

Final Fantasy XV - November 29, 2016
Yakuza 6 - December 8, 2016
Resident Evil 7 - January 26, 2017
Tekken 7 - Early 2017
Dragon Quest XI - 2017
Gran Turismo Sport - 2017
Hot Shots Golf - 2017
Kingdom Hearts 3 - 2017
Gundam Versus - 2017

Between all of these games, the PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, PSVR, and NX, Japan is going to be a console hot bed next year. Consoles are not dieing in Japan, they have just been on vacation. PS4 and NX are going to put a major dent in the sales of western and korean smartphones and tablets.

I also belive we will see a next gen PlayStation Handheld, and the 1st real PlayStation Phone next holiday, both running every game from the PS4 library at 540p checker boarded to 1080p. Sony and Nintendo will reclaim Japan, and double to triple previous console/handheld marketshare across the rest of the world. The Apple and Google duoply will fall from their godly positions, and give consumers choice in the mobile and home markets once again.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Bold: Yeah. As said, I'm not expecting anywhere near PS2 numbers of course but it'll be interesting to see what the software and hardware releases can do for the Japanese console industry.

Regarding the rest. I doubt Asians will suddenly stop gaming on their phones. It'd be neat with a new PS handheld/phone though.

huh, I`m quite surprised they`re so close actually. Thought DW would have been a good few places ahead considering how many more releases it has had. I guess the fact that SW is based on Japanese rather than Chinese history has helped it catch up some.

I don`t suppose you have the figures available do you? Would be nice to see just how close they are to each other.

Oh yeah. My mistake.

The franchises are not only ranked based on their total sales but also ranked according to how well their top selling entries have performed historically. Though that still puts Samurai Warriors a few steps further down the list as you pointed out.
