Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Iphone 7 is the biggest joke I have ever seen, cost as much as two PS4 Pros, no headphone-jack

Thats just it.... the hardware inside apple usually isnt all that impressive, compaired to what they charge for it.

What your paying for is the "brand" & "status symbol" and maybe your own preferance of the software OS.

I wouldnt say perceived value is high with apple.

If you buy their products you know your getting f***'ed price wise, you do it anyways.

This. Also I find it random how we're comparing a mobile phone device to a gaming console. The mobile phone is first and foremost a phone, not a gaming device. We may as well compare a PS4P to a car or anything else at this point and it would be absurd.

I'd rather compare it to the 2DS.

1 iphone 7 or 10 2DS

It's for the "gotta-have-its."

While I agree that the new iphone is lolz worthy with its lack of a headphone Jack, I can see why people buy them.

Most people that buy iphones don't buy them at full price, majority will most likely go into a contract or go with Apple's Financing option of paying blah per month. So the initial price of the phones is a lot cheaper.

And then of course, phones in general are a necessity and it is nearly impossible to live without a phone these days. But it is more than possible to live without a console. Some people just choose an iphone cause it does more than your typical dumb phone and its apps library is the best there is. For example, I use Google Maps + GPS on my Galaxy S7 all the time to find new locations that I have never been to before. In order to do that before smartphones came out, I had to buy a seperate GPS thing which I had to pay a yearly subsciption in order to get Map updates.

So I can certainly see it.

Pretty much this.

I don't know anybody who outright just pays full price for a phone. I don't own an iphone but I pretty much do the same thing every couple of years with my Galaxy.

Well... Technically I did for my Galaxy S7 but thats cause the Canadian Carriers are stupid :P

The PS4 is the biggest joke I've ever seen, you can't play online unless you pay incomprehensible fees. Exclusive games get delayed all the time!

Why don't you just worry about your money and let people do what make them happy?

Iphone7 is the best phone out there. And phone is pretty important to peoples daily lives nowadays. So Apple has leverage with pricing. They also did a good job on IOS10. So even though I see your point, I wont be supporting it.

I'm no lover of apple but why on earth are you comparing an iPhone and a ps4?

ridiculous and pointless comparison.

Indeed, and I am one of the ones who won't be buying this underwhelming iPhone.

If anyone that's on a budget and wants my advice, I'd tell them to get the 6s, it got cheaper and it still destroys the latest and greatest Android perfomance wise and has some neat exclusive tricks up its sleeve.

And I don't want to sound like an asshole, but given the amount of boosting PC gamers are allowed to do here, I might as well say it, if you find 800$ too much money, then you need to spend less time complaining about what people buy and more time improving your sources of income.

Oh i...

*backs away slowly*

Here, they just put it into our montly bill so we don't feel like we are paying as much as we actually are.

Yea Canada does something similar but with the setup that I got, I didn't have much of a choice.

See the thing is, when I got my Galaxy S1 in a contract, I got this really good limited time plan which has 6gb of data, unlimited text and etc for $60 a month. For Canada, that is a zomg deal since this is Rogers. Then I upgraded to the Galaxy S4 with a contract and I was able to keep my plan. But then the Canadian laws changed and the contracts before were for 3 years but now, contracts at max can be for 2 years. So what did the Carriers do? They increased the cost of the plans. So if I were to get the exact same plan today, I would have to pay $125 per month.

So when my Galaxy S4 broke earlier this year, I wanted to go into another contract for the Galaxy S7 for $200. But if I did that, I would have to upgrade to a newer plan. With $60 per month, at most, I could get is 1gb of Data. Or I could go in the middle and pay $600, keep my plan and go into a contract. But that was only $150 less than the unlocked price of the Galaxy S7 and I wouldn't need to be locked with the Carrier for another 2 years. And that is how I paid $750 CAD for my phone from Ebay. And remember this is CAD, so really, its more like $550 USD.

It's a joke the prices they charge for them. No wonder apple are the richest public company in the world.

I can get 2 Xperia Z5's for that price. Or as you say a psvr and a ps pro. It's just pure greed. Apple could sell their phones $200 cheaper and still make massive profits. Plus they'd sell a hell of a lot more.

Next year I'll be getting a top of the range 4k TV for the price of an iPhone. Crazy times we live in.

You know what, it probably cost Apple $10 to make one iphone 7.
