I think that's bullshit honestly, there is a balance for the items and the game is never about one single race, a good player may get last once just as a noob may get luck and be among the winners from time to time but good players are usually in first places and a noob is not going to win a cup against experts, I used to win against my friends like 4 out 5 times and casually I'm the one with more experience in the game...

Even without the horn, the welcome nerfing of the blue shell in MK8 means its hardly a death sentence; a good player will be far enough ahead that it won't cost them their lead.

Mario Kart is the best multiplayer experience. But I find it really boring alone, Sonic Racing games are arguably better.

Forza for me primarily because of Forza Horizon.

I, more or less, only play MK, I kinda stopped playing "serious" racing games back in 90s.

Other than that I'd definitely go with iRacing...I have a colleague who's into it and apparently it's THE game for car sims (GT and Forza are considered simcades in that world).
