1. Gran Turismo. Seriously it's Turismo.
2. Burnout. An excellent series but it has been a long time since the last one was released :(
3. Propably Forza, although Project Cars and Driveclub are great too
4. Need for Speed. Used to be the best but then became much worse until the latest one which is actually ok
5. All kinds of destruction derby games etc.
6. F1 and Rally. F1 2001 was such and excellent game, after that they started getting worse, and the new 2016 one is ok but just ok. Dirt is a great rally franchise but WRC has gone downhill fast....

7. Mario Kart, I mean yeah it's fun but so are all of the ones above especially when you play them with friends....for kids this is the best by far though

For single player experience and Online - Gran Turismo

Gran Turismo is the king of racing games. No game feels more like being on the track, and no game has the shear amount of content. Gran Turismo delivers an experience that no other game in its genere comes close to.

For couch multiplayer - Mario Kart

Mario Kart is the OG pure fun with freinds racer. Whether you are racing for the cup, or battling it out in the battle arena, you can't have much more fun from a racer when playing with friends.

Between FlatOut and Dirt series for me.

Gran Turismo 6 was worse then Forza 5 and 6 so in the simulation, forza wins.

I voted mario kart, however, since its just too damn fun

#2 is Ridge Racer.

F-Zero. Mario Kart is 50% luck and 50% skill. You can't win just by being good, you have to be lucky and that's why I pick F-Zero because racing should be about skill imo.

GT is probably the best "sim" racer though... but I don't have nearly as much fun with sims as I do arcade racers.

I don't like any racer, except Mario Kart, so I'll pick Mario Kart. Though I have also liked Star Wars Ep 1 Racer once upon a time, but still, easily Mario Kart.
