Forums - Sony Discussion - Best TV for PS4 Pro?

Don't do an OLED. You lose a lot of grayscale, burn in is a risk factor for extended play, and the blues will start fading in three years.

I recommend an XBR55X850D or a UN55KS8000. There are TVs with faster input lag, but you sacrifice HDR for it.

Don't be fooled by TVs that say they're HDR; it needs to be a 10-bit panel to be real HDR. Sony's 750D and higher are 10-bit, Samsungs KS8000 and higher are 10-bit, and avoid Vizio/LG.

I'm sitting about 8 feet away from my 42" Panny plasma screen in my room (I love that TV, BTW), and I don't have a ton of wall space the way I have to arrange my room, and I also don't have a ton of money. Are those 55" screens the smallest you'd recommend if I want the best bang for my buck? Or would a smaller sized model like the XBR49X800D be just as good for my needs?

EDIT: Also, are OLEDs really still that bad? I was hoping it'd be the replacement for plasma screens. I honestly always felt that plasma screens were simply the better display compared to LCD screens, and no LCD I've seen in person anywhere has ever matched the color fidelity, contrast, and black levels of a good plasma screen.

The 800D is a fantastic model, especially for input lag. It comes in 43" and 49" models.

And yeah, OLEDs aren't really there yet.

TV is used more than just for gaming on your PS4. I am all for the 4K push. I am glad we are advacing on that front. It took forever for 1080p to get anywhere. Heck, we are still only getting 720p or 1080i from most providers. With how fast and hard 4K and HDR is being pushed, I look forward to all the new available content (cut the cord and do streaming only). $400 for the PS4 Pro is a fantastic price btw. You must be pretty young if you are balking at these prices. My old 3DO cost $600 back in 1993. To get a gaming PC at the level of the PS4 Pro, you'd struggle to build one for the same price.

None of what you said is based on facts. HDR I am all for. Im 33 years of age. Ps4 Pro isn't doing true 4k so Is it really fair to have it compared to a 400$ PC because a 400$ PC could easily beat it and upscale to 4k.

You cannot get a gaming PC for $400.

So after looking around at several 4k TV's I'm currently looking at 2, Gaming is priority for it as 90%+ of it's usage will be spent on gaming.

-Samsung KU6300 Lowest price point - Know as the KU6000 in Europe and is same as the KU6300 in the US.

-Sony XD80 - Towards the higher end of my budget.

Is the XD80 basically the Sony X800D equivalent  for Europe? I looked at the specs side by side and it seems to all be the same apart from the motionflow XR been 240 on one and 400 on the other but hell if I know what that means.

I'm assuming that XD80 is the UK name for the x800D, in which case go for that. The KU6300 supports HDR, but isn't real HDR due to hardware constraints- you need a 10-bit panel to get the full benefit of HDR, and the KU6300 is only 8-bit.

Also, that website is showing false information on the depth of the 800D. It's a 10-bit panel, confirmed both by Sony representatives that teach my salesmen about TVs and by Rtings.com (who have some of the most thorough tests I've ever seen on TVs, lacking only in proper upscale testing and a testing for noise/artifacting).

I'm hardly knowledgeable on this subject but maybe these links will help. This does detailed reviews on TVs. They break down the input lag for each display at multiple resolutions with different settings.
