Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Reaction to federation force

My first thread so someone let me know if I'm doing something wrong or weird

Federation force released late last month and so far it's been a huge flop, even bigger than games like wonderful 101, Tokyo mirage sessions, codename steam and fatal frame 5. Even if the vgchartz numbers so far are inaccurate it still only peaked at #8 on the US 3ds eShop, didn't break top 40 in the UK and sold less than 4k during its Japanese launch week. My question is how do you think Nintendo will respond to this game's failure and how will this impact the Metroid franchise in the future. A few things to keep in mind, every main series metroid game except for zero mission and hunters has broken 1 million according to vgchartz. Also Super Metroid is currently the 5th best selling wii u eShop title of all time in the usa and the prime trilogy is the 18th and indie titles such as guacamelee and axiom verge have been very successful on Nintendo platforms.

The series will be put on hold, for a while. Even if they're making a NX game. They won't talk about anything Metroid related. Till they know the anger has pasted. And have a game that won't piss most off.

They will just shift the blame on players.
Saying that we are not interested enough in metroid games anymore.

They ll probably try to bring back the franchise again in 5 or more years as some shitty casual mobile game.
Super Metroid Run, where you have to jump and shoot ennemies to win stickers to use in text messages.

Anyway, screw this. All of this, I'm going to take a nap

The anger won't pass for awhile. The internet is notorious for never forgiving shit like this lol

I feel like the anger will go away as soon as there's a real metroid. That being said federation force will always be seen as a low point of the series

Federation Force is just a spin off much like Hyrule Warriors. Its on 3DS and its a completely different game. Not sure why you would judge as a main title. It shares the same lore as Metroid Prime. If it flops it flops. It should have no bareing on Metroid Prime series. Thats like saying is Halo Wars 2 flops its going to cause a massive up stir for Halo 5 and the upcoming Halo 6 games.

In other words different studio, different game and different platform.  Being unsuccessful should not make anyone angry because its NOT Metroid Prime 4 which i know there making.

The problem with Nintendo is that they are NOT doomed. They are sitting on so much money they pretty much make whatever game they feel like and screw what the fans want. I love Nintendo, but they are a harsh mistress.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Don't forget, Tokyo mirage sessions is a niche game, code name steam likely wasn't a big budget title (Zelda botw, is their biggest and most expensive title yet and it only needs to sell 2 million to break even) fatal frame has never sold more than 300,000 copies, plus it was a digital only release in the US. Plus each of these titles only has physical copies accounted for (as vgchartz doesn't do digital yet. Fedeeation Force will likely be a low seller (but it's a spin-off, and they already probably knew it wouldn't sell much due to its pre-reception)

Don't worry about the series, the producer of metroid is likely working on the next game for NX (as he said last year that it wouldn't be possible to get a Wii U metroid game out as it will take 2-3 years at least to make it, and the Wii U will be long gone.

It ends up being an average shooter that ends up being better than most people assumed or wished it would be. It's like Tri force heroes. The timing wasn't great and the name didn't help. Though it might hint at a possible Prime 4 as some, including GameXplain, talked about the hints and such.

I've always wondered why the Metroid franchise has become so trouble in the past decade-ish or so. It's a great concept with a cool protagonist but Nintendo doesn't seem to know what to do with it. I remember playing the hell out of the SNES games.
