Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony downplays GTA4 extras, no one buying it

I cant see anybody choosing to buy a 360 over a PS3 because of this DLC. That's what this guy from Sony is saying and imo he is absolutely right. The most important factor in what persuades a GTA buyer to choose which console to play it on is going to be which other games are being released on the console. There is absolutely no doubt at all that the titles being released on the PS3 from now on will appeal to current PS2 owners more than what the 360 has to offer.

"He might be saying it's poor compared to Forza 2. I just looked on Metacritic and GT5 Prologue has an average of 82 from 12 critics while Forza 2 has a 90 from 56 critics. Add in the fact that review scores generally go down over time and it does beg the question that maybe the gimped racing title with the big sales might just be coasting along on it's name."

Its a demo. Do you understand that? Its a demo thats being released about a year before the full version. WTF are you on comparing it to a full release title a year before its finished?

Arguably as a budget title, it's most likely to be graded for its content and value, at retail F2 was double the price of GT5P so several GT5Previews may have been more or less lenient due to its price.

ehhh........if Sony got that content, it would be praising it everyday. The DLC will prob. persuade many ppl to go to 360 instead IMO - esp. bigs fans of the GTA series
lol

So the DLC is a few extra missions.

I can't tell because VGChartz doesn't have the numbers, but do you know how few owners of GTA 1 bought London 1969?

Aurally examine my music!

Wear gaudy colours or avoid display. It's all the same.

Be warned, I will use walls of polysyllables and complex clauses as a defence against lucid argument.

Wand to read a creepy thread?

Sony downplays GTA4 extras, no one buying it

This sounds as

MS downplays blu-Ray, No one wants/need it...

I think GTA IV (multiplatform developer Rockstar) and RE5 (multiplatform developer Capcom) would have been released for the 360 anyway. RE4 was also on Nintendo platforms and PC, GTA III and San Andreas was also on XBox and PC.

I disliked the buyout of Bungie by Microsoft as it was one of the leading Mac and Linux games developers.
I also disliked the buyout of Rare, as the company was the most important 3rd party developer for the Nintendo platform.

I hate bribing like was the case with Bioshock by Microsoft just to keep this multi-platform game off the PS3 platform. The PS3 version was planned and under development, IMO this goes against consumer interests and thus shouldn't be applauded.

So you hated when Sony bought exclusives on PS1 and PS2 as well right? I am sure Haze's exclusivity was just a coincedence as well. PS fanboys are always complaining about MS buying exclusives when Sony set the predecent for it two generations ago. Not only that when Sony does it for the PS3, the same people that bitch about MS's "bribery" don't have a damn thing to say.

Er.. thanks for your comments? But your predictions lost you all your credibility, come on, you think the 360 is going to sell 3m from now till end of 2008? *sigh*

Why dont you try keeping on topic and responding to my point?

Sony don't pay for exclusives any more. If you can supply evidence that Haze is a bought exclusive then do so or STFU.

Please supply me any evidence at all of any PS3 game that Sony have paid for exclusivity on.

imho, DLC for one game, while it will have an impact, will not sell many consoles (and certainly not enough to warrent spending $50mil for it) also imho, M$'s move smacks of desperation, though I could be wrong. (either way, Sony's response smacks of total retardation. If I was going to get this game and I had both consoles, I would definitely be getting the 360 version even though I hate M$ with a passion.)

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Lets be real, do you honestly think that the business suits at Free Radical Design just decided it was a good idea to drop development of the game on the PC and 360, a system known for it's FPS sales and ease of development, to keep it on the PS3? Also remember that at the time Free Radical Design announced it as exclusive the PS3 was getting hammered in sales by the 360, especially in North America which is the biggest market for the genre.

Let's be real, do you honestly think it's a smart idea for someone to go exclusive when they could probablly make just as much(if not more) going multiplat?
