Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is this the beginning of the end for Microsoft consumer based hardware?

When will people realize that no doom and gloom notion in the console gaming space has materialized in the last 20 years?

Sega was on the ropes already with the Dreamcast, but these other players are generating hundred of millions to billions selling games and subscriptions.

ms has always been quite quick to try a thing and quite quick to move on when things are going well.

what i'm saying is i would not look at any one particular failure and a overall trend in company strategy. they might be pulling out of phones today but they just may be launching a rebranded phone in 2 years.

kill and rebuild seems to be core to ms's beliefs when they run into adversity.

They seem to simply be merging their phone line with the Surface line.

22+ million of a "poor" console in 3 1/2 years is too high of a sales level to just quit.

If the Wii U had 22 million+ in says only 3 1/2 years, Nintendo would continue to support it full stop through 2017 at least and a successor would be guaranteed.

Not 3.5 yrs...2.5 yrs...and entering another holiday quarter where they do most of their business. They'll be closing in on 30 million by year's end. 8-10 million per year was typical of the 360, which means XBO is doing just as fine.
