Forums - General Discussion - Things Casuals Say About Gaming

What are things that non-gamers/casuals say about gaming which pisses you off?

here's an example list I made:

1. Pokemon is a game for kids.

2. Why get a gaming device if you can play games on your phone?

3. Games promote sexism, violence, racism, etc.

4. Handhelds are such trash. Phones are superior.

5. buying games is such a waste of money.

6. Why can't games like Uncharted be on my phone?

Except for point 3 those seem like pretty valid opinions.

You're 3rd point is the best (worst?) one. Violent games controls kids minds. A TV show that glorifies misoginy and sexuality? Meh, what could go wrong.

No Pokemon is for everyone and a dedicated handheld will always be superior to phones due to undivided resources.  This is why the games on current gen handhelds are leaps and bounds ahead of phone games.

Phones these days are around as powerful as a Wii U or PS3 (I'm almost 100% sure about that). The only problem is developers/phone developers are only willing to put cheap, free-to-play cash in titles. There are a few good games, but they're mostly lacking features, 2D "retro-indie" games, or Candy Crush/Clash of Clans/Facebook type of games. I also think controls are a problem, but there are many ways to get around that.

Developers aren't also brave enough to release mobile games that cost more than $10-$15. Phone gamers have their head up their asses thinking all games should be free...

But hey, everyone is happy as it is, so why fix what isn't broken?

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I edited the thread title to tone it down a bit.

Just because somthing is as strong as a WiiU in raw power does not mean it is capable of doing what a WiiU can do.  A console or handheld will always be able to out perform a PC or smartphone with the same specs due to more of the resources being available for the actual games.  The PCs that sport better graphics than PS4 as an example would be done by a PC with BETTER specs than the PS4.  One with the same specs would not produce the same results.

Furthermore there are compatibility issues with smart phone.  There are so many different models out there, and none of them work exactly the same when you try to push the limits.  This is why you will not see smartphone games produce the same quality as a dedicated handheld, at least not for a very long time.

" Mario is only for kids." That's why Champion's Road exists.

I have never heard anyone saying that phones are better than handhelds or consoles for playing video games.

I have heard kids saying that Nintendo is for kids (which annoys me) and that Link's name is Zelda.

[Enter any mobile game here] is the best video game

"Framerate doesn't matter."

"PC gaming is so hard to understand."

"Dark Souls is the hardest game ever."

"Ugh, too many sword/Fire Emblem characters in Smash."

People who pronounce Mario as "Mareio."

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

"Video games are fun! But I have other hobbies too."

"That was a fun shooter, can't wait for the next one to come out"

"I saw a friend with that game, looks good!"

Honestly though, I never got the obsession with belittling people for being less passionate about one of my hobbies than I am. I suppose it's basically just a meme at this point though...eh.

To be fair, there are too many FE characters in Smash IMO XD
