Forums - Movies & TV - Anime recommendations for a beginner?

Angel Beats
Madoka Magica
Nagi no Asukara
Hanasaku Iroha

though I'm not really sure what a beginner anime is anyways :p

Basically I'm saying that the anime that people who are fans are already assumed to have watched are valid for recommendation here as I have probably not seen it.

Don't watch Neon Genesis Evangelion. I watched this shit again this week and I'm feeling even more depressed than usual.

Well, I love Silent Hill 2 which has a pretty depressing storyline, so I may like this too.

The game is definitely better than the anime, so I would recommend getting the game.

How can you top perfection? lol

Anyways, I really liked the anime and I wasn't that interested in playing the game, but your comment just made me add the game to my Steam wishlist, thanks!

If you like action then watch One Punch Man, it's pretty short and not very mentally taxing.

Steins Gate?

TBH I found the game pretty crappy. I mean, it's not really a game, there's no gameplay whatsoever, it's just a visual novel. And if you've already seen the anime and know what happens... well then theres nothing really left to it. Would probably be better for someone who doesn't already know the story though.

Yeah I'm aware. I may just get it during a sale honestly. Worst-case scenario I can just ask for a refund if I find it too boring =P

Death Note and Attack on Titan if you like serious stuff

Digimon is great, as long as you avoid the english version :P

and then the classics, Dragonball and Naruto

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Neon Genesis Evangelion is great, don't listen to the haters.
Death Note and Digimon Adventure are really great too.

Honestly, it's not really worth playing the game if you already watched the anime.  I may be biased since I played the game first so that's why I enjoyed it more.  The game does have added endings though, so that might be enough to cause you to want to play it and I enjoyed the artstyle of the game much more than the anime.  But I would recommend the VN over the anime for first time watchers.

Okay, so I've started watching Samurai Champloo. I am currently on the 5th episode. I've really enjoyed it so far and I'll make sure to revisit it without English subs in the future.

I would say:
-Naruto
-Bleach
-One Punch Man
-One Piece
-Hunter X Hunter
-Death Note
-Tokyo Ghoul
-Attack on Titan
-DragonBall (and the other seasons)

I probably have a few more, but I can't think of any at the time
