Forums - Sony Discussion - Bethesda: Fallout 4/Skyrim PS4 Mods On Hold

"After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.

"Like you, we are disappointed by Sony’s decision given the considerable time and effort we have put into this project, and the amount of time our fans have waited for mod support to arrive. We consider this an important initiative and we hope to find other ways user mods can be available for our PlayStation audience. However, until Sony will allow us to offer proper mod support for PS4, that content for Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PlayStation 4 will not be available.

"We will provide an update if and when this situation changes."

well that sucks

Ahhh....Sony! I'm not sure how good mods would be on consoles compared to PC's, but at least there was an option to have them. Sony with some of the public disappointments lately isn't going so well. Specifically speaking about the 10 dollar increase for PSN, Pro announcement, and now this. NO I'm not saying they are doomed. Just saying that it's too many recent disappointments.

Disclaimer: I personally don't care for mods, or that PSN is going up 10 bucks, or that the Pro will not have an UHD Blu ray drive.

Well those games are better played on PC or Xbox then because the MODS are more fun then the actual game in almost every game, Mount and Blade is also coming to the PS4 soon and that game with MODS is my #1 played game on PC ever :)

that game of thrones mod :D

Another day another laugh for Microsoft

Sony do allow mods. It's just they've set standards to prevent memory loss so the game doesn't run like shit. Also something to do with audio.

Bethesda either don't care enough or are too stubborn to follow these standards. This is on them not Sony who have every right to expect some level of quality control.

Valve should send out a tweet making fun of them!  Arrogant Microsoft is back and I love it!  There were playing the nice guy for a while there and it doesn't suit them.  I doubt Sony will take the bait but it's entertaining none the less.

If i was paying for PSN, i would feel like this:

But that's just my small opinion.

Yeah and Sony don't agree with their definition of should.  Why should they allow mods that cause memory loss on their console?  It's pretty straightforward.  If Bethesda care enough they will comply and give them mods.
